Obituary - Rosanna L. Greufe
The FUNERAL MASS for Mrs. Greufe will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri. OFFICIATING at the Funeral Mass will be Father Jason Koch.
VISITATION/ROSARY SERVICE will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Montrose, Missouri. The times for the Rosary and Visitation are yet to be determined.
INTERMENT will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montrose, Missouri. The family suggests any MEMORIAL donations be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Rosanna Luella Greufe, 98, was born December 25, 1919 near Urich, Missouri and passed away peacefully at her home in rural Montrose, Missouri on October 6, 2018. She was one of eleven children born to Frederick and Mary Elizabeth (Gieselman) Boehler. Rosanna attended rural school outside of Urich, Missouri, until the eighth grade. After completing her education, she worked on her family farm. She then moved to Kansas City and worked at Union Station. Following the conclusion of World War II, she married Edwin Ferdinand Greufe on November 12, 1946 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Urich, Missouri. To this union seven children were born: Judy, Jim, Alice, Linda, Helen, Jane, and Bob.
Rosanna was a hard worker with an excellent business sense, which she deployed regularly when running the family farm with her husband, Edwin. They enjoyed working together for many decades, raising angus cattle, planting row crops, milking, and running a hog operation. Apart from farming, she proved an incredibly talented seamstress, making and mending many of her own as well as her children’s clothes. Rosanna remained a voracious reader throughout her life, especially enjoying murder mysteries and novels full of intrigue. Another favorite hobby was following Kansas City baseball and football. She rarely missed watching a Royals or Chiefs game. One of Rosanna’s fondest memories was vacationing with her family. Rosanna’s faith was the most important thing in her life, and she dutifully served Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and St. Mary’s School in Montrose, Missouri, in many capacities for more than 50 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Mary Boehler; her husband Edwin; nine siblings: Christina Studdard, Henry Boehler, Marcella Hillerman, Clara Koch, Walter Boehler, Leonard Boehler, Loretta Cook, Harold Boehler, an infant brother; one grandson, Logan Cannon; and a son-in-law, Ralph Perez Jr.
Rosanna is survived by her seven children: Judy (Jerry) Briggs, Jim (Barbara) Greufe, Alice Perez, Linda Lowry, Helen (Ron) Cook, Jane (Tad) Cannon, and Bob Greufe; one brother, John Boehler; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; along with many extended family and dear friends. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, caregivers, and all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
