Obituary - Linda Susan Toepfer
Linda Susan Toepfer, age 69, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2018, at the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room in Ft. Scott. She was born April 18, 1949, in Ft. Scott, the daughter of Allan Todd and Dorothy Sackett Todd. Linda graduated from the Uniontown High School with the Class of 1967. She married Thomas Charles Toepfer; they later divorced. In earlier years, Linda had worked at Wal-Mart in both Baxter Springs and Ft. Scott. She then attended nursing school at Fort Scott Community College and became a Registered Nurse. She worked as a nurse in Florida and Joplin, Missouri. She later retired from the Bates County Hospital in Butler, Missouri. Linda was a loving and devoted mother to her three daughters; she worked hard as a single mother to make sure the family’s needs were always supplied. She loved spending quality time with children and grandchildren as well as going to the beach and taking trips to the casinos.
Survivors include her three daughters, Michelle “Shelly” Edwards, of Leawood, Kansas and twins, Kerri Bohlken and husband Randy and Kendell Dawn Mason and husband, Steve, all of Ft. Scott; five grandchildren, Alex Mason (Holli) of Redfield, Kansas, Ashton Mason, of Olathe, Kansas, Jessica Amico (Joey) of Maryland, Max Bohlken (Savannah) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Lane Bohlken of Ft. Scott; and a great-granddaughter, Lucy Mason. Also surviving is a brother, Matt Todd and wife, Ezra, of Independence, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, October 15th at the Paint Creek Cemetery south of Redfield, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 P.M. Monday at the Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Polycystic Kidney Disease “PKD” Foundation and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.

Janice E. Gaddy, 80, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Friday morning, October 12, 2018 at the Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton.
Arrangements are pending under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.
Obituary - Gordon Barbee
Gordon Barbee, 72, of Clinton, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, October 10, 2018 at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. He was born October 2, 1946 in Clinton, the son of Robert Emmett Barbee and Marian Frances (Dehn) Barbee.
He married Diane McLain in Clinton, MO on February 25, 1967, and she survives of the home.
He was employed with Missouri Public Service, now Kansas City Power & Light, in various capacities, most recently as store keeper. He retired in 2009 after 42 years of service. He was also a cattle farmer. He served as a medical corpman with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, receiving the Purple Heart after taking shrapnel in his arm during combat.
Gordon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, the Clinton Elks Lodge #1034, Eagles Lodge 3667, and the Clinton American Legion Post. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, tending to his cattle, cutting wood, anything outdoors, his morning coffee gatherings, and most of all, hanging out with his grandsons.
In addition to his wife Diane, surviving are one son, Brad Barbee and his wife Stacy, Lee's Summit, MO; one daughter, Jami Voelmeck and her husband Scott, Clinton, MO; four grandsons, Jackson Voelmeck, Clinton, MO, Christian Voelmeck, Clinton, MO, Braedan Barbee, Lee's Summit, MO and Kellen Barbee, Lee's Summit, MO; two brothers, Paul Barbee and his wife Rita, Clinton, MO and Chris Barbee and his wife Colleen, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one brother-in-law, Van McLain, Harrisonville, MO; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gordon's wishes were to be cremated with no formal services. Family services will be scheduled for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gordon Barbee Scholarship Fund, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.

City of Butler Scheduled Power Outage October 25th-26th

The outages are part of a routine maintenance program for the City’s generating equipment.
Each outage should only last a few minutes. The City’s Engineers have recommended a 4 hour window to complete the maintenance which is scheduled to begin at 10pm and has been scheduled in the late evening hours to lessen any inconvenience.

James P. Hildebrant, age 71, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Kansas City Hospice House.
