From the Bates County Sheriffs Office

There will be a funeral procession for LT. Kelly Phillips following the funeral services today. 

The procession will leave the Adrian Optimist building at approximately 11:15 where the route will go as follows:

Go north from the Adrian Optimist Club to the four way located at Old 71 and 1st street, east on 18 highway to I49 South, I49 south to the 52 West exit at Butler, east on 52 highway to Orange street in Butler, south on Orange street to Nursery street, go east past the hospital to Main street, North on Main street to Fort Scott street, West on Fort Scott past the Sheriff's Office and back to Orange street, north on Orange street back to Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel. 

We encourage those who cannot attend the services to step out along the procession to show community support for the family of LT. Phillips. - Courtesy of the BCSO

Obituary - Deanna Rapp

Deanna Rapp, Rockville, passed away Saturday, October 13, at the K.U, Medical Center, Kansas City, Ks, at the age of 80. 

Funeral Arrangements are under direction of the Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, and services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Rockville, with burial to follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. 

Memorials either to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour are suggested and can be made in care of the Heuser Funeral Home.

Obituary - Spencer Ross Burris

Spencer Ross Burris, 74, of Blue Mound, passed away on October 15, 2018 at his home.

Spencer was born on June 27, 1944. In October of 1977 he married Patricia Ingram at Albany, GA. He was preceded in death by wife, Patricia Burris on October 20, 1994.

Services are pending with Schneider Funeral Homes and Crematory, Mound City, Kansas.

Obituary - Dora Jean (Luther) McKinley

Dora Jean McKinley, 74, Richards, MO passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Nevada Nursing and Rehab in Nevada. Dora was born June 12, 1944 in Horton, MO to Wesley Raymond and Jessie Irene (Detienne) Luther.

Dora, a lifelong resident of the Horton area, was a graduate of Metz High School. She lived and worked on the family farm and especially enjoyed managing the pecans. Dora also worked at the Horton Post Office. She loved her animals, her scratch off tickets, and meeting and talking with people.

Survivors include one son, Steven “Tex” McKinley, of the home in Horton; one brother, Wesley Luther, Warrensburg, MO; several nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at this time.
