Vernon County Sheriff's Office Deputies will be delivering Halloween bags to all the schools in Vernon County for pre-school - second grade today and tomorrow. They include candy, glow-in-the-dark bracelets, Halloween safety tips, anti-bullying key chain and an activity book with crayons.

Obituary - Robert “Bob” Wayne Bronson
Robert “Bob” Wayne Bronson, age 61, was born December 6, 1956 in Lamar, MO to Oscar Leroy Bronson II and Rose Marie (Valenti) Bronson. He passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018. Bob married Susan Ann Searles April 2, 1976 in Iantha, MO. Together they raised 4 sons: Bobby, Dusty, Joey and Jason. Bob was employed at Lamar Fire Department for over 25 years. The children that would tour the firehouse knew him as “Fireman Bob”.
Bob looked forward to “Wear Red Fridays” when he would meet with family and friends to drink coffee. He is survived by his wife Susan, his mother, Rose, four sons: Bobby and his wife Kim, Dusty, Joey and Jason and his wife Katie, six grandchildren: Molly, Sophie, Memphis, Nash, Kadyn and Wyatt, two sisters; Anna Voorhees and Susan Ball, a brother; Oscar Bronson III, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his dad, two brothers; Richard and John, a sister; Linda Lair and a granddaughter; Ava Bronson October 13, 2017.
There will be a memorial visitation from 1 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. Thursday November 1. A Graveside Service will follow at 3 P.M. at The Iantha Cemetery.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Collins
On Oct. 28, a St Clair County deputy was dispatched to SE 871 Road in Collins in reference to a stolen vehicle that was burned. Dispatch advised the reporting party is the owner of the vehicle.
While heading to the scene, the deputy made contact with Chris Urie. Urie stated he reported his 2008 Nissan truck stolen to the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 23, 2018. Urie was contacted by a friend, who was contacted by another man through Facebook, who found an insurance card with Urie’s name on it while he was hunting.
Urie stated he went to the area where the insurance card was found and found his stolen vehicle about 300 yards west of SE 871 Road. The truck had been burnt.
The deputy collected evidence and took photographs.

Summit School Set To Move
Plans right now are to move the Summit School to Poplar Heights Farm on Thursday. The moving company is arriving this morning to start the work of raising the building onto the trailer. We'll keep you posted as we know an exact time.

Charges: Warrant (X3) Probation Violation; Theft; Aggravated Assault
On October 29, 2018 at approximately 1:45 pm Crawford County Deputies responded to rural Pittsburg on East 560 Avenue west of 200 Street.
Gary Dean Tomasi, 45 of Frontenac, KS reported to dispatchers that Corbitt had fired a weapon at him on 560 Avenue after an altercation that began in Frontenac, in which Tomasi’s vehicle was rammed by Corbitt who was driving a black Chevrolet.
Tomasi, who was uninjured, reported that Corbitt had left the area after firing at him. A responding deputy located Corbitt on US 69 Bypass and conducted a traffic stop.

Mr. Corbitt was driving a reported stolen vehicle from Pittsburg. Corbitt was taken into custody for three active warrants, Theft and Aggravated Assault.
Corbitt is presumed innocent unless and until the allegations against him are proved beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

After an extensive search, no weapon has been located and the investigation is continuing. Corbitt was transported to the Crawford County Jail and is being held without bond.
