Traffic stop leads to arrest in Harrisonville

We have had a lot of questions regarding the police activity that was taking place at Ducky’s Gas Station at E. Mechanic Street and Oriole Street yesterday in Harrisonville..

Officer McCulloch conducted a traffic stop at the gas station. During the traffic stop contact was made with three subjects in the vehicle. 

One of the subjects, Pracilla Alvarado was found to have active warrants for her arrest and was taken into custody. The other two occupants were asked to exit the vehicle while K9 Uxo conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. 

K9 Uxo alerted on the vehicle. When Officer McCulloch opened the front passenger door, he observed a silver in color revolver in the door pocket with one round of ammo in the cylinder. The male subject later identified as Geoffrey B. Worman of Bucyrus, KS fled the scene on foot. Geoffrey was taken into custody approximately ¼ of mile away.

When Officers continued the search of the vehicle a second-hand gun was found between the front driver’s seat and the center console, a Glock 43 which was loaded was recovered. It was later found that the Glock was reported stolen out of Aurora, MO. It was also discovered during the investigation that Geoffrey is a convicted felon. 

Geoffrey has been charged with one count of Receiving Stolen Property, one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and one count of Resisting or Interfering with Arrest/Detention/Stop. 

Geoffrey was given a $5,000.00, 10% cash only bond. The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be presented at a later date.

DEER HUNTERS: Our conservation agents remind deer hunters to do their part to protect the image of hunters by not dumping deer carcasses at bridges, in waterways, or along roads. 

Not only is it unsightly, but it’s also illegal. Hunters who process their own deer can help slow the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease by placing carcass parts in trash bags and placing them in a trash service or landfill. Thanks. – Joe@MDC

Obituary - Tom L. Charles

Tom L. Charles, 62, Richards, MO passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. Tom was born May 23, 1956 in Nevada to Rex Washington and Jean (Douglas) Charles.

Tom attended school in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1974. He worked for Paul Perrin Construction for a number of years then owned and operated his own construction company for an additional 15 years. For the past few years Tom has worked as a driver for MFA Oil in Nevada.

Survivors include his wife Diana of the home; children, Adam Charles, Springfield, MO, Brady Folbre, Springfield, MO, Brittany Folbre, Springfield, MO; Allison Shepherd and her husband Sam, Springfield, MO; four grandchildren, Dafney Shepherd, Lydia Shepherd, Abraham Folbre, Ella Folbre; one brother, Joe Charles and his wife Georgia, Richards, two sisters, Linda Scammell and her husband Chuck, Richards, Liz Perrin, Richards; numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Balltown Cemetery in Horton, MO with Mark Mitchell officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Obituary - Patricia Ann Goddard

Patricia Ann Goddard, 79, Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, November 19, 2018 at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore, MO.  

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00.

The Clinton Police Department would like to announce that the department has been chosen as the recipient of a very generous donation from the Lindon Q. Skidmore Foundation. The grant, in the amount of $15,000, was awarded to aid the department in making technology upgrades. In the ever-changing world of electronics, upgrades are inevitable, but they come at a price and small-town law enforcement usually lags behind in acquiring these valuable investigative tools. Chief Miller and the members of the Clinton Police Department would like to thank the Lindon Q. Skidmore Charitable Foundation for continuing to support law enforcement, especially the efforts of Kyle Sisney and Tony Twyman of the foundation.
