Warming trend the next 3 days

Could see some patchy fog this morning, but this should burn off quickly as we climb into the 40s. This warming trend will continue through Saturday.

Rain is likely Fri PM into Sat AM with 1/2-1" of rainfall is expected. 

Temps drop Sun PM to below normal for early next week with a chance of rain & snow Mon, but it is unlikely we'll see any significant accumulations.

Obituary - Michael Connor Dailey

Michael Connor Dailey 78, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018. He was retired from A R Taylor Co. where he worked in sales. Visitation will be 12:30-2:30 on Thur., Nov. 29 at Memphis Funeral Home, 5559 Poplar Ave. Burial will be at 12:30 on Fri., Nov. 30 at Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, Mo. Mike enjoyed hiking, swimming, reading, watching college football, and dining out. Although he was born in Missouri, he lived most of his life in Malesus and Memphis, so he felt he was a true “Tennessean”. He was proud of being an Eagle Scout, a summer life guard at Chickasaw State Park in his youth, and serving in the Tennessee Nat’l. Guard. 

During that service he helped protect Memphis firefighters after Dr. King was assassinated. Preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mary Dailey, sister Zula Dailey, brother Warren Dailey, sister and brother in law, Jane and Herb Stockton. Survived by his niece Mary (Ross) Stryker, nephew Jim (Maureen) Stockton, one great nephew, four great nieces, five great great nephews and two great great nieces. He is also survived by long time companion Sue Swaffer, and best friends Wayne and Sandra Davidson. Many thanks to the staff at Kirby Pines Rehab facility for his care after surgery earlier this summer, especially Bobby Spell, his wound care nurse. 

Though he was only able to spend a short time at Village at Primacy we also appreciate the help provided by Stephanie Casey, their sales director, and Patty Earles with Silverline Solutions.

Obituary - Michael Scott Schubach

Michael Scott Schubach, 28, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Calhoun, MO passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 22, 2018 at his home.

He was born February 11, 1990 in Blue Springs, MO, the son of Michael Eugene Schubach and Theresa Ilene (Slaughter) Schubach. He grew up in Calhoun where he was a member of the Calhoun Baptist Church and the Calhoun Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Kansas City Rock Climbing Club. 

Michael Scott graduated from Calhoun High School in 2008 and then the University of Central Missouri in 2012. While in college he worked for Schreiber Foods, Inc. Following graduation, he went to work for Cerner Corporation in North Kansas City, MO as a domain strategist. In his free time he enjoyed rock climbing and doing anything outdoors.

Surviving are his father, Michael E. Schubach, Carrollton, MO; his mother, Theresa Schubach, Calhoun, MO; one brother, Daniel Fain, Clinton, MO; three sisters, Michelle Slater, Clinton, MO, Amanda Bradbury, Calhoun, MO, and Samantha Leigh Schubach, Calhoun, MO; maternal grandparents, John and Anna Slaughter, Huntsville, Arkansas; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. He also leaves behind his faithful companion, Remi.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, JaNean Slaughter in 1986; paternal grandmother, Joyce Fortney in 2017; and paternal grandfather Richard McClelland in 2009.

Michael Scott's love for family, friends, and life was infectious - our love for him will live in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018, with a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 p.m., at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. 

The family suggests memorial contributions to Clinton Animal Rescue Endeavor, (C.A.R.E.), and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.

Obituary - James Albert Hegge

James Albert Hegge, age 82, a resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas, after a brief illness. He was born February 29, 1936, in Butte Montana, the son of Albert Hegge and Inez Irene (Stufflebeam) Hegge. Shortly after his father’s death, he and his mother moved to Fort Scott to be near family. He attended the Fort Scott school district. Jim married Anita Marie Murphy on December 4, 1956, in Miami, Oklahoma. He was a Tree Trimmer for KG&E for over 40 years. 

Jim was an avid baseball player for several local leagues and was recruited to Marion, West Virginia, to play for the Class D Appalachian League in 1955. An injury prevented him from fulfilling his dream of being a professional pitcher for the Kansas City Athletics. He went on to coach for many years in the local baseball leagues with numerous players benefiting from his expertise. Jim was also a member of the Lucky Strikes Bowling League. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting. One of his great joys was fishing at Table Rock Lake in Missouri while staying at Bridgeport Resort and Lake Fork in Texas as well as Lake Fort Scott. Jim maintained a bountiful garden for years that he shared with the whole community. Many say he had the best tomatoes they had ever eaten.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Hegge of the home; daughter, Catrina (Hegge) Farmer of Fort Scott; son James A. Hegge Jr, of Garland, Kansas; daughter Rose Marie (Hegge) Wheeler and husband Ken of Fort Scott; and daughter Julie K. (Hegge) Beckley and husband John of Sedan, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Melissa Farmer, Johnathon Beckley, Ryan Wheeler, Levi Hegge Stewart, Dustin Wheeler, Michael Farmer, Jordan Beckley, Jaimie (Hegge) Anderson, Jefery Beckley, and Zachary Wheeler; and twenty great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his father, due to a car accident, when he was a newborn; his mother; and an infant grandchild, Jacqualine Kristean Beckley.

There was cremation with services being held at 2:00 PM Saturday December 1, 2018, at the First Church of God in Fort Scott. Memorials are suggested to the James Hegge Memorial Fund and may be left in care of Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.

Appleton City teen escapes serious injury in one vehicle accident

On 11/27/18 around 12:35pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County responded to a one vehicle accident on Route P around 1 mile south of Appleton City, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2000 Ford Focus driven by 18 year old Haylee N. Sieleman of Appleton City, Missouri was attempting to make a left hand turn when she traveled off the roadway and struck a ditch.

Haylee N. Sieleman sustained minor injuries in this accident and she was transported by private vehicle to Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City for treatment.

The vehicle received minor damages and it was towed by a private party.
