Mail truck rollover in Harrisonville

On 11/30/18 around 1pm the Harrisonville Police Department responded to a mail truck rollover accident on Clearwater Drive by the Justice Center in Harrisonville.

The vehicle lost control and traveled off the roadway and overturned. Traffic was delayed for a short time and the driver wasn't injured in this accident.

The vehicle received moderate damages and it was towed from the scene by Miller's Tow of Harrisonville, Missouri.

From the Barton County Sheriffs Office

The Barton County 911 Center received a call of a motor vehicle accident approximately one mile west of Lamar on 160 Highway. The Barton County ambulance, Lamar Fire Department, and deputy's with the Sheriff's Office responded to the scene .

One person was transported by personal vehicle to Cox Barton County Hospital for treatment. The accident is being investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Obituary - Ruth Ellen Reeves

Ruth Ellen Reeves, 79, Harrisonville, Missouri died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at her home in Harrisonville. 

 A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Heartland Baptist Fellowship in Harrisonville with visitation from 6:00- 7:30 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home.

Ruth was born June 25, 1939 in Marshfield, Missouri, a daughter of Homer M. and Eve (Pippin) Farr. She had lived in Marshfield, Harrisonville, Kansas City, MO and Montgomery, Alabama before moving back to Harrisonville in 1971. She was a 1957 graduate of East High School in Kansas City.

Ruth was united in marriage to Ronald M. Reeves on May 23, 1958, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage before Ron’s death on November 28, 2015.

Ruth was the secretary for the Cass County Missouri Commissioner’s Office for 20 years before her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the Heartland Baptist Fellowship. Ruth had formerly served as the secretary at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Harrisonville. Ruth had served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 3, and had also been a member of the Harrisonville Band Boosters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Ronald. Ruth is survived by three sons, Ronald M, Reeves (Donna) Harrisonville, Robert W. Reeves, Ozark, MO, and Richard L. Reeves, Harrisonville; one sister, Martha Tabb (Gerald), Harrisonville; two grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.




Structure Fire in Butler

Around 10;00am this morning the Butler Fire Department responded to fire in the garage of a home located at 602 W. Summit Street in Butler.

The fire was quickly put out and the home was ventilated before the residence returned to the home.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire was determined and removed.

Obituary - Barbara Rose Skinner

Funeral services for Barbara Skinner will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

 Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Schowengerdt Chapel. 

Burial will be 3 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Macks Creek, Missouri. Contributions to Humane Society. Online condolences, www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Barbara Rose Skinner, age 83 of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Golden Years Nursing Facility in Harrisonville, Missouri. She was born July 17, 1935 to William and Ruby Rooffener Donnelly in Kansas City, Missouri.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Tommy Skinner of Appleton City, Missouri; two sons, Mike Skinner of Independence, Missouri and Steve Skinner of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; three daughters, Linda Ulery of Mesa, Arizona, Sandy Driver of Raymore, Missouri and Nancy Jackson and husband Richard of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill and Leslie Donnelly; and one sister, Cordelia “Babe” Willis.



Two vehicle accident in Butler

The Butler Police Department along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and Bates County EMS is on scene of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Havana and Ft. Scott Street in Butler.

One person is said to have minor injuries in this accident and will be checked out by Bates County EMS. Please use caution as the roadway is blocked at this time.
