Update: Harrisonville woman killed in Cass County Fatality Accident

On 1/5/19 around 6:57pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Cass County Sheriff's Office and Harrisonville Police Department responded to a two vehicle accident on southbound I-49 at mile marker 154.6 south of Harrisonville.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2002 Saturn driven by 82 year old Doris M. Graef of Harrisonville, Missouri was improperly stopped in the roadway when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2014 Ford driven by 33 year old Chris A. Davis of Archie, Missouri.

Doris M. Graef was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and she was transported to the Jackson County Medical Examiners Office.

Chris A. Davis sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by Cass County EMS ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

A passenger in Mr. Davis's vehicle 28 year old Lauren A. Findley of Archie, Missouri sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson's Tow of Harrisonville, Missouri.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 1st Fatality Crash of 2019.

Fatality Accident in Cass County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County  along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies are working a Fatality Crash in the southbound lanes of I-49 around mile marker 154.8 south of Harrisonville at this time.

The highway is closed at Missouri 7 Highway at this time and please expect traffic delays if you are traveling in this area.

Scheduled Power Outage in Appleton City

Appleton City residents and surrounding residents. We were contacted by a Mr. Mark Dawson with KCP&L, who wanted us to let you know that on Jan. 6 @approximately 11:59 p.m. the power to the town will be shut off for about 45 mins. to an hour, so they can work on the substation.

Obituary - Gary W. McKay

Gary W. McKay, 74, Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Friday, January 4, 2019 surrounded by family at the Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg, Missouri.

Gary is survived by his wife, Carole McKay of the home; a son, Steve Anderson, Cleveland, Missouri; a daughter, Michelle Helt and husband Shawn, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, Kaila, Sydney, Sutter, Slater, Ashlyn, Laicey and Mia; a sister, Mary Susan Scott, Milan, Missouri; his beloved dog, Winston; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with Military Honors to follow.

Family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg, Missouri.
