Obituary - Mary Woodward

Funeral services for Mary Woodward will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. followed by Rosary services at 7 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. 

Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Contributions to Truman Lake Hospice. Online condolences, www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Mary Elizabeth Woodward, age 95 of Clinton, Missouri formerly of Butler, Missouri died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in Clinton. She was born March 27, 1923 to John Peter and Theresa Teeman Fick in Montrose, Missouri.

Mary is survived by a son, Charles Woodward and wife Vickie of Harrisonville, Missouri; a daughter, Cheryl Jesse of Clinton, Missouri; and her special granddogs. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Orville in 1966; six brothers; and two sisters.

Obituary - Robert “BJ” J. Welch

Robert “BJ” J. Welch, age 69, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away in his home on Monday, January 7, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

A Visitation Service will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Interment will follow at Freeman Cemetery in Freeman, Missouri 64746.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Disabled American Veterans, 1109 MO-7, Pleasant Hill, Missouri 64080.

BJ was born September 12, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of Robert Lee Welch and Evelyn Hamilton. Growing up, BJ was one of four children including Willard, Linda, and Dorothy Ann.

After high school BJ served his country in the United States Navy for four years. It was in the military that BJ was trained in his life-long career as a pipe fitter. For the next twenty-nine years, BJ worked as a pipe fitter for Honeywell before retiring in 2010.

In the fall of 1969, BJ was joined in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Linda L. Jackson, on November 8th. Together BJ and Linda were blessed with three sons, Robert Jr., Heath and Scott. Over the years, being blessed with grandchildren and one great granddaughter. BJ was a proud Navy veteran, also enjoying fishing, hunting, flying drones, and pulling pranks.

BJ is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Evelyn Welch.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 49 years, Linda L. Welch; three sons, Robert J. Welch Jr. (Danielle), Heath A. Welch (Angela), and Scott A. Welch (Trisha); brother Willard Welch (JoAnn); two sisters, Linda Lee Spencer and Dorothy Ann Turnell (Mike); seven grandchildren, Jessica, Ashlyn (Cole), Colton, Gracie, Dylan, Sophia, and Mason; and great granddaughter, Harlee.



Nevada man arrested in Cedar County

On 1/7/19 around 5:20pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cedar County arrested 63 year old Donald L. Hume of Nevada, Missouri.

Mr. Hume was arrested for 1.) Felony Possession of Methamphetamine 2.) Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia 3.) No Seat Belt.

He was booked into the Cedar County Jail in Stockton, Missouri and was placed on a 24 hour investigative hold.

Amoret man arrested in Bates County

On 1/8/19 around 7:18pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 54 year old Terry A. Wisdom of Amoret, Missouri.

Mr. Wisdom was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender) 2.) Felony Driving While Revoked 3.) Careless and Imprudent Driving resulting in a accident.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and was placed on a 12 hour detox hold.

Margaret E. Smith, 103, Harrisonville, Missouri died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. 

The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. -12:00 Friday at the chapel.
