Obituary - Michael George Simmons, Sr.

Michael George Simmons, Sr., age 70, Clinton, died January 4, 2019 at his home.

Michael was born July 17, 1948 in Ogden City, UT. After high school, he attended college, receiving three Bachelor’s degrees, before going to work for the railroad as a switch man. He married Terrie Dawson. To this union, three children were born. Michael was a wonderful man, who loved his family dearly.

Survivors include his wife, Terrie Lynn ‘Dawson’ Simmons (who died shortly after his death); two children, Michael George (Jennifer) Simmons, Jr. and Jeremiah James (LeTisha) Simmons; and six grandchildren, Nehemiah, Faith, Serenity, MicKenzie, Jaxon and Guillianna.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Jedediah; a brother, David; and a sister, Juilie.

A memorial service is scheduled at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Consalus Funeral Home, Clinton.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Simmons Memorial Fund and left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.

Obituary - Terrie Lynn 'Dawson' Simmons

Terrie Lynn 'Dawson' Simmons, age 63, Clinton, died January 4, 2019 at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, KS.

Terrie was born August 10, 1955 to Delmar & Melba Dawson. After high school, she went to work as a general laborer at Schreiber Cheese Factory, Clinton. She married Michael George Simmons, Sr. To this union, three children were born. Terrie was a loving mother, who loved her family dearly.

Survivors include her two children, Michael George (Jennifer) Simmons, Jr. and Jeremiah James (LeTisha) Simmons; and six grandchildren, Nehemiah, Faith, Serenity, MicKenzie, Jaxon and Guillianna.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Michael George Simmons, Sr.; a son,
Jedediah; and her brothers and sisters.

The Barton County Sheriff's office is asking for the help of the community. We have located a man who is confused and suffering from dementia. We know he lives at a residence in Calhoun Missouri in Henry County and his name is Cecil D. Moore. 

We are trying to locate family members of his. We are sure somebody is worried and missing him. If any body knows Mr. Moore please contact us at 417-682-5541.


Update* The family to Mr. Moore has been found and they are on their way to the Barton County Sheriff's office to pick up him. Thank you to everybody who has shared and helped in looking for his family. Every little bit of helps and counts.

Obituary - John Elmer Phipps

John Elmer Phipps, 81, Nevada, MO passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at his home in Nevada. John was born August 19, 1937 in Nevada to Leonard Elmer and Hazel Francis (Ames) Phipps. He was united in marriage to Karen B. Norris on January 24, 1960 in Nevada, MO and was married for 53 years. Karen preceded him in death on May 17, 2013.

John was raised in Bronaugh, MO and graduated from Bronaugh High School. He attended Pittsburg State University receiving a degree in mathematics. John served in the United States Army for 2 ½ years while stationed in Ft. Sill, OK. Following the service he worked for Conoco (Continental Oil Company) for 13 years. 

He relocated to Nevada, MO in 1974 where he owned and operated his own business as a Jobber for Conoco. John was an active member of the United Methodist Church, and the Masonic Lodge.

John is survived by two children, Kristie Phipps of the home, and John Phipps, II, and wife Sally, Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren, Melissa Wilkinson, Carthage, MO, Samuel Morgan, II, Nevada, MO, Lynsey Brown, Nevada, MO, Matthew Phipps, Bondurant, IA, Makensey Phipps, Pittsburg, KS, Austin Phipps, Charlotte, NC and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Karen, he is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Nevada with Rev. Sharon Freeman officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, or the National Kidney Foundation in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
