Lois E. James, 85, Freeman, Missouri died Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. 

Funeral services are pending at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Service times and the obituary will be updated when they become available.


Obituary - Thomas "Tommy" Shelton

Thomas "Tommy" Shelton, 65, Peculiar, Missouri died Monday, February 4, 2019 at his home in Peculiar. 

Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. 

The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice. A complete obituary will be added when it becomes available.

Last week, troopers took to a frozen Mid-Missouri pond to refresh some techniques. #WaterWednesday



Multiple Vehicle accident west of Adrian

The Bates County Sheriff's Office along with Missouri State Highway Patrol and Adrian Fire Department is in route to a motor vehicle accident on Missouri 18 Highway just east of FF Highway around CR 3001 in rural Adrian.

The accident is said to be between multiple vehicles and the roadway is blocked at this time.

No one is reported to be injured in this accident but please use caution if you must travel around the area today as the roadway is slick.

Missouri 18 Highway has been temporarily shut down in this area at this time.

Joplin man arrested in Bates County on warrant

On 2/5/19 around 11:49pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 32 year old Todd A. Banfield of Joplin, Missouri.

Mr. Banfield was arrested for 1.) Felony Miami County Kansas Sheriff's Office Arrest Warrant - Forgery.


He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and is currently being held on no bond.
