Obituary - Allen J. Schmidt
Allen J. Schmidt, 90 of Rich Hill, Missouri passed away February 13, 2019 at Medicalodge of Butler in Butler, Missouri. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Bethany Mennonite Church in Rich Hill, Missouri.
A visitation will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, also at the Bethany Mennonite Church in Rich Hill.
Burial will follow services in the Bethany Mennonite Cemetery in Rich Hill. Services under the direction of Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009). Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.
Reward claimed in horse shooting case in rural Amoret
Today at Max Motors in Butler James Taylor of Urich, Missouri was given a $2,500 reward check for the information he gave local authorities to help solve a case were two horses were found dead in rural Amoret.
David Johnson, 55, was arrested by the Garden City Police Department in January of last year and turned over to the Bates County Sheriff's Department.
Police say Johnson ignored no trespassing signs and shot both of Terry Wisdom's horses in the head.
Mr. Johnson is the son of the property owner Kirby Johnson where the horses were being boarded and were killed.
James Taylor gave vital information in leading to the arrest and prosecution of Johnson.
Presenting the check to James today at Max Motors was Marko Muller of the Max Motors Family.

So, here are the details on the Friday storm...it appears the area will see 1 to 4 inches with the heaviest amounts expected for the KC Metro, Saint Joseph, and along and just north of the Interstate 70 corridor. We have issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Friday between 9AM until Midnight.
And, remember even if you don't have a Valentine we'll still be here for you all weekend, although will just be telling you terrible news and let's face it no one needs a love like that! Happy Valentines Day and stay safe out there tomorrow!

The Bates County Sheriff’s Office is currently working an animal abandonment case.
We are looking for someone we can purchase small square hay bales from so that we can feed them until we can get arrangements made for a secure place to take them. We will be feeding a full size horse and several small horses and a few goats.
If you have a few bales for sale we would be interested in purchasing them from you. Please contact Sheriff Anderson at 660-679-3232 if you have hay for sale.
