Local Chiropractor to be certified in Tai Chi by government grant.

Slips and falls have a devastating impact on our aging population. The State of Missouri has the highest rate of seniors falling..31% higher than the national average.

In an effort to reduce the number of slips and falls a government grant has been funded by the The Health and Human Services and the Administration on Aging for certification in Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention.

Twenty qualified applicants have been chosen to be certified at the end of February at the MU extension Campus in Columbia, Mo.

Dr. James C. Womelduff IV a chiropractor from Adrian, Mo was one of the lucky candidates to be selected.

"I am excited to become a board certified instructor. This style of Tai Chi is easy to learn and is endorsed by the National Arthritis Foundation and The Council on Aging. It is evidence based and proven to help reduce the risk of slips and falls."

Every 29 minutes in America someone dies from injuries sustained from a fall.

Dr. Womelduff feels that as a chiropractor it is beneficial for him to know how to help his patients beyond the adjustment.

"If I can prevent one person from falling and give them more confidence and core strength then I have truly helped someone to the best of my ability," Dr. Womelduff said.

If you are interested in learning this fun, safe and relaxing form of exercise you can reach Dr. Womelduff at 816-392-9795
