Winter Storm to Impact Saturday Travel

The good news...snow totals are trending downward across northwest Missouri for Saturday.

The bad news...if you have nearby travel plans to the northwest, a strong winter storm is still expected to impact those areas with heavy snow and blowing snow conditions Saturday PM.

Obituary - Samuel “Sammy” LeeMasters

Samuel “Sammy” LeeMasters, 65 of Butler, Missouri passed away February 20, 2019 at Medicalodge of Butler. Cremation, with private family inurnment to be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009).

Sammy LeeMasters was born October 19, 1953 in Butler, Missouri to Stanley and Nancy McConnell LeeMasters. He grew up in Butler and lived in the area for most of his life. Sammy loved to dance, play his guitar, pick his Powerball numbers, and he never missed a bingo night in Adrian. He also enjoyed spending time with family. Sammy will be forever remembered for kind and loving soul.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother Mike Leemasters and wife Debbie, by his sister Patty Stevens and husband Lance, by his aunt Dorothy Welch and husband John, uncle Harold McConnell and wife Modina, nephews, Jason and Jesse LeeMasters, Lance, Aaron, and Trevor Stevens, nieces, Deidre Goins, Deandra Owens, and Delista Craft, along with many great-nieces and nephews.

Several Thefts reported in Rockville area

On February 20, 2019 a Deputy was dispatched to a residence on 3rd street in Rockville, MO to take a theft report. Upon his arrival he made contact with the victim's who stated that their trailer had been stolen from their property. There were tire tracks that appeared to be from a dual rear wheeled truck. They had last seen the trailer the previous day.

The trailer is a 1999 18' flatbed tandem axle car hauler. The estimated value of the trailer is $2500.00.

The Deputy took photos of the scene and conducted an area canvass with negative results.

On February 20, 2019 a Deputy responded to County Road 14545 in Rockville, MO in reference to a stolen vehicle. The Deputy made contact with the reporting party who advised a truck belonging to a family friend had been stolen from the property sometime after 7 p.m. the night before. He also advised several saddles and halters had been stolen from his shed.

The stolen truck was a 1995 International 2 ton that was white in color and had an aluminum bed. While the Deputy was at the property the victim received a phone call from a family member who had been out looking for the truck and advised him that they had found some items from the back of the truck that were laying in the middle of a road. The Deputy and the victim left the property and drove approximately south 2 miles before coming upon the items. The Deputy observed tracks leading down the county road which they followed. They discovered the stolen truck sitting off the road in the tree line. The truck lights were still on and the motor was slightly warm. The Deputy processed the truck and released it to the reporting party.

Evidence collected from the truck will be sent to the lab for comparison.

Missing Cattle Reported in rural Foster

On February 14, 2019 a Deputy took a report of missing cattle on County Road 6508 in Foster, MO. The Deputy met with the owner of the cattle who advised he had been
missing several head of cattle for over a month.

He had last seen the cattle on December 20, 2018. He had searched all the nearby pastures with no luck. He had also checked all of his fences and could not find anywhere that the cattle could of gotten out from.

The cattle are a Charolais mix and are worth around $1800.00 a head. Each one had green ear tags and had been branded with his brand of a bar and a sideways G.

Stolen guns in Appleton City

On February 13, 2019 a Deputy responded to State Route W in Appleton City to take a theft report involving firearms. The victim stated that there was a truck and two tractors on the property that had been opened and rummaged through.

She advised there were two guns taken from the truck a Ruger 10/22 and a Smith and Wesson MP15. The serial number on the Ruger is 197727 and it was valued at $275.00. The serial number on the Smith and Wesson is HUB2724 and it is valued at $400.00.

The Deputy advised Dispatch entered the guns as stolen in MULES. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bates County Sheriff's Office 660-679-3232.
