Obituary - Philip Poindexter

Funeral services for Philip Poindexter will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Sharon Cemetery, Drexel, Missouri. Contributions to American Heart Association. Philip Dean Poindexter, age 86 of Drexel, Missouri died Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Drexel. He was born September 4, 1932 to Wilson Bryan and Opal Celeste Lankford Poindexter in Drexel.

Philip is survived by two sons, Darrel Poindexter and wife Marian of Drexel, Missouri and Dennis Poindexter of Archie, Missouri; one brother, Jimmie Poindexter and wife Virginia of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Vickie Poindexter of Harrisonville, Missouri; six grandchildren, Mitchell Poindexter and wife Jen, Lucas Poindexter and wife Shannon all of Houston, Texas, Michelle Poindexter and partner Felice Porrata of Adrian, Missouri, Richard Poindexter of Harrisonvinlle, Missouri, David Poindexter and wife Megan of Drexel, Missouri and Matthew Poindexter and wife Cari of Archie, Missouri; and nine great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Rylee, Cole, Beau, Cody, Christopher, Emily, Haley and Hannah. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Mary Jo in 2017.

BUTLER HIGH SCHOOL: Congratulations to Baylee Hudson, Alli Dawson, and Shyla Register for breaking to finals at the District Speech & Drama Tournament in Sedalia yesterday! Baylee placed 5th in Dramatic Interpretation, Shyla placed 5th in both Radio and International Extemp., and a special congratulations to District Champion in Poetry--ALLI DAWSON--who will be competing at the state competition in April.



MIAMI R-1 SCHOOL: The 5th and 6th grade District Honor Choir was held on Sat., March 2 at UCM- Warrensburg. Clinicians for the event were award winning Blake Richter, composer and music educator, and soon-to-be Dr. Kari Adams of TX. With over 250 students in attendance, a public concert was held at 2:30 after a full day of rehearsal.

ADRIAN HIGH SCHOOL: Congratulations to Adrian FFA Member Kameran Collier, she was was selected to serve as the Area VII Secretary for the upcoming school year. Way to go Kameran!

RICH HILL HIGH SCHOOL: These singers are on their way to State! The Misc #1 Vocal Ensemble received an “Exemplary” rating at Districts yesterday

BALLARD HIGH SCHOOL: Three members of the Ballard volleyball team received the Academic All-State award on Feb. 27th  for the 2018 volleyball season. They are senior Kelsey Pray, sophomore Sudie Callahan, and sophomore Serenity Morris. The requirements for Academic All-State are a 3.6 cumulative GPA from athletes entire career (include 2018 1st Semester) and played in 75% of varsity matches. Congratulations ladies!

Over the past couple of weeks the Nevada Police Department has had multiple thefts from automobile incidents throughout town.

Obituary - Heather Louise Bledsoe

Heather Louise Bledsoe of Peculiar, Missouri was born December 24, 1983 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Richard Lee Bedsoe and Patricia Louise (Gann) Emery. She departed this life Friday, March 1, 2019 in Peculiar, Missouri at the age of 35 years, 2 months and 5 days.

Heather was employed as a nurse for Preferred Pediatrics in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She grew up in Drexel, Missouri and was baptized in the United Methodist Church in Drexel. A graduate of Drexel High School, where she participated in basketball, volleyball, cheerleading and was a Homecoming Queen. After high school she attended Vatterott College in Independence, Missouri. She loved all animals, especially her dog, Hooch.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to The Children's Education Fund.

Heather is survived by her two sons, Kadee Adams and Desmond Emery; a daughter, Rylee Fitzgibbon; mother and step-father, Patricia and Gerald Emery of Peculiar, Missouri; father and step-mother, Richard L. and Patty Bledsoe of Independence, Missouri; two brothers, Jacob Emery of Blue Springs, Missouri and Joshua Emery of Grain Valley, Missouri; a sister, Rachel Myers of Greenwood, Missouri; her maternal grandmother, Elsie Gann of Independence, Missouri; step-paternal grandmother, Roberta Emery of Drexel, Missouri; three step-brothers, Brian Beckwith of Liberty, Missouri, Chris Beckwith of Kansas City, Kansas, and Kevin Beckwith of Kansas City, Missouri; her companion, Andy DeMarr; other relatives and many friends.

Obituary - Elizabeth J. (Cantrell) Deal

Elizabeth J. (Cantrell) Deal, 43, Archie, Missouri departed this life on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Valley Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Austin Cemetery near Archie, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m, Friday, March 8, 2019 at the funeral home.
