When Lydia Reynolds graduated from Adrian High School in 2015, she was determined to pursue a degree in nursing and she's done just that!
This Saturday, May 4, 2019, Lydia graduates from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Lydia will then begin her career in the Intensive Care Unit at Belton Research in June.

Five teams participated in the 3rd annual Miami Alumni basketball games on Saturday. The teams were Five Finger Ball Slingers, Gang Green, The Baseline Leaners and Jailblazers. However, team Old Fat Guys featuring Miles Nieder, Tommie Hutchison, Terry West, Brandon Nieder, Kyle Dubray, Ben Cameron and Dylan Fink finished on top, winning the competition.
Plans are already in place for the 4th annual tournament next year.

Local 4-H clubs came out in full force last Saturday for the first Bates County Fair Board Work Day. 4-Hers and parents picked up trash, washed windows, cleaned out a storage building, and painted the arena fence. Thanks to all who came out and helped! This is why Bates County 4-Hers are awesome. The next work day is scheduled for May 18th.

Donald Max Chulufas, 89, Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Butler Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Butler, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Barb Chulufas of the home; 2 sons, Donnie Chulufas Jr. and wife Janelle, Adrian, Missouri, Scott Chulufas and wife Mary, Amsterdam, Missouri; 4 daughters, Kim Chulufas, Harrisonville, Missouri, Kelly Norwood and husband Michael, Gravois Mills, Missouri, Karlene Corkins and husband Bryan, Leavenworth, Kansas, Theresa Greer and husband Michael, Adrian, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Chulufas, State of Oregon; other relatives and friends.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Clarence E. "Gene" Barnett, 82, of Kansas City, Missouri, departed this life Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the North Kansas City Hospital.
Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday,May 2, 2019, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday May 2, 2019, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
