Special concert May 17th
Union Avenue Opera Company, St. Louis, will be in concert at the Bates County Museum on Friday May 17th at 7:00 pm. They were here in October 2015 helping to raise more than $6000 for the Save Our Steinway project. They now return to celebrate the restoration of our 1879 Steinway.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office in Lamar Missouri is asking for the help of the community in locating a wanted person. On 04-30-2019 the Barton County Court issued a Capias Warrant for 44 year of age Maryann Phelps, of Lamar.
The warrant was issued by Judge Munton for failure to obey Judges Orders. The original criminal charge on the warrant was for possession of a controlled substance.

Obituary - Kristina Marie “Krissy” Brenton
Kristina Marie “Krissy” Brenton, 28, of Raytown, Missouri, formerly of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, December 21, 1990, in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, the daughter of Anthony Wayne and Maureen Annette (McNamara) Brenton. She departed this life Saturday, April 27, 2019, at her home.
Kristina grew up in Pleasant Hill and attended Pleasant Hill High School.
On August 15, 2015, she was united in marriage to Michael Leach in Blue Springs, Missouri; they later divorced but remained close friends.
Krissy was employed as a dental assistant for Foster Dental in Blue Springs, Missouri, and on weekends also tended bar at the Dirty Bird Bar & Grill in Raytown. Krissy was a kind, compassionate free spirit who defined herself as a “defender of animals”. She was always the first person to be there in a time of need. She could often be found taking her two dogs (her kids) on hiking adventures to many places. She was accepting of all people; always finding the good in them and enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with family and friends. A spontaneous person who loved unexpected adventures. She enjoyed crafting, biking, and long-boarding.
Krissy is survived by her parents, Anthony and Maureen of Pleasant Hill; two brothers, Dustin J. McNamara of Blue Springs, and William A. (and Suzanne) Brenton of Marysville, Kansas; two sisters, Sara G. (and Ben) York of Truesdale, Missouri, and Katie L. (and Samantha) Brenton of Holden, Missouri; her nieces and nephews, Naudia, Dylan, Isabelle, Isaiah, Fred, Laci, Aimé, and Reid. She is also survived by her canine companions Annie and Munkie as well as Panda, her pet parrot.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the KC Pet Project and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
