ATTENTION: Butler Police seeking another person of interest in Butler City Lake Death

On Wednesday May 1st Butler Police and Fire responded to a report at the Butler City Lake of a vehicle in the water. Upon arrival it was determined that there was also a body in the lake.

After recovering the body it was later identified as a 69 yr old white female Cindy McCoy of Osceola Mo.

Two suspects were taken into custody in Linn County Ks. and are currently being held in the Bates Co jail.

Charges are 1st degree assault on both suspects 43 year old Monte McCoy of Pleasanton, Kansas and 33 year old Samantha McCoy of Osceola, Missouri.

The incident is still under investigation with one person of interest at large.

The Butler Police Department would like to talk to 34 year old Jason Ray West a person of interest in this case.

Update: Mr. West was located and taken in for questioning! He was cleared and released

Shimmy mob is Saturday May 11th at Walmart in Butler.

What is the Shimmy Mob? It is a "flash mob" type of event AND the largest belly dance event of its kind by the total geographical territory covered in one day!

The shimmy mob is being held to create awareness in hope of ending domestic violence and to support victims of abuse around the world.

We will have a table set up selling baked goods from 4pm to 7pm and at any point during that time, you will have a FLASH MOB belly dance performance by the Mystic Movers.

ALL MONIES RAISED WILL BE DONATED TO MOSS HOUSE IN NEVADA.

Come see us perform! Donate baked goods and BUY baked goods.

Thank you for helping us bring awareness and raise funds for Moss House. Let's work toward having a day where domestic violence of any kind no longer exists.

Drexel man killed in one vehicle fatality accident

On 5/5/19 around 5:40pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County responded to a one vehicle fatality accident on westbound NW CR 17402 just west of NW CR 12001 in rural Drexel.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Honda driven by 23 year old Taylor L. Eicholz of Drexel, Missouri traveled off the roadway, vehicle went airborne and struck a embankment before traveling into a creek and ejecting the driver.

Mr. Eicholz was pronounced dead at 7:47 pm this evening at the Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by a family member. This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 26th Fatality Crash of 2019.

Rosemary McGinnes, 68, departed this life, Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Kansas City Hospice House.

Funeral services are pending under the care of Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
