Small hands, big hearts

Hume R-8 kindergarten and first grade students have been busy this week.  Besides working along side the Garden Club to plant flowers around the community, they also found time to design robots made from recycled materials.

The school would like to thank the Garden Club for allowing the opportunity and for providing each child with a flower.

Citizens of Butler: Please read

We have some new faces on the Butler city council and they, with our mayor and other council members want to hear what you have to say.

In an effort for complete transparency, our city leaders want your input on any concerns you have regarding the city of Butler and residents are invited to attend an informal town hall meeting on June 3rd, 7 pm at the Butler high school.

There's a lot going on and some big decisions have to be made regarding our city- we collectively need to plan for the future.

Please plan to attend and share this event with your friends an neighbors too!

Mid America Live television?

Yes, in a modern kind of way... For awhile now, we've been working to bring you daily news videos and now we've taken it to the next level- with Mid America Live Television.

Our long term goal is to continue to bring you text based news on Mid America Live.com while also providing it another way, via live and recorded news video through KMAL TV.

You can get to KMAL TV through our web site by clicking the KMAL TV tab at the top of our home page, or you can make a shortcut to www.kmaltv.com as well.

Over the next few months, you'll continue to see a lot of activity with our video production. More events covered, some live and recorded, which means more details and concise coverage for you.

We're pretty excited about KMAL TV.

And as Paul Harvey would say..."stand by for news!"

MoDOT will start our annual mowing operations

MoDOT will start our annual mowing operations and is urging motorists to be on the lookout for slow-moving equipment.

FUN FACT #1: MoDOT mows about 400,000 acres of grass each year, which is equivalent to 300,000 football fields.

FUN FACT #2: Major and minor routes are mowed in three cycles usually starting in mid-May, mid-July and mid-September.

Between mowing cycles, report grass and weeds blocking visibility at intersections along state roads to MoDOT. Contact MoDOT’s 24/7 Customer Service Center at 1-888-ASK-MODOT (1-888-275-6636) or fill out an online form at www.modot.org and click on Report A Road Concern at the bottom of the page.
