Miami R-1 welcomes 2019 Valedictorian Brianne Popplewell
Brianne Popplewell is 2019's Miami valedictorian. She plans on going to Crowder College her first year and then on to Penn valley to finish out her degree as a Radiologist. She is the daughter of Patrick and Michelle Popplewell.
Her parents couldn't be more prouder of her achieving this accomplishment.

Search Warrant Served in Barton County
On 05-14-2019 The Barton County Sheriff's Office, Lamar Police Department and the ODET drug task force executed a search warrant at 1503 Broadway in Lamar.
At the conclusion of the search two people were arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance.
Timothy D. Kennon, age 58 and Anna Satoe, age 49, both of Lamar are being held in the Barton County jail on a 24 hour hold for investigation awaiting formal filing of criminal charges. Reports are being sent to the Barton County Prosecutor for consideration in the filing of formal criminal charges.
At approximately 4:30pm on 05-15-2019 warrants were served to Timothy D. Kennon, and Anna Satoe, for the criminal charge (class D felony) of possession of a controlled substance. Both subjects have a $5,000 dollars cash or surety bond. The have been given the 06-04-2019 court date.

Obituary - Russell Ginger
Russell Ginger, age 75, of Linn Valley, Kansas passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Russell was born on May 25, 1943 in Farmington, Illinois the son of George and Alice Daymude Ginger.
He married Penne Smith on November 29, 1963 at Rupert, Idaho. Russell was a home builder by trade and had built hundreds if not thousands of homes in the Kansas City Metropolitan area as well as some houses along the coast in Oregon.
Russell was a hobbyist who enjoyed music, doing dollar bill oragami, he would draw squiggly lines on a sheet of paper and have his grand kids draw pictures from it, but most of all he had the love of woodworking spending hours on end in his shop creating toys and different things for his grandchildren.
Russell is survived by his wife Penne, son, Russell Ginger Jr. and wife, Tanya, daughter, Pam Graham and husband, Marc, son, Brad and wife, Beth, fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral Service will be at 2 pm, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 pm to service time. The family suggest contributions to Children''s Mercy Hospital. Family and friends may leave condolences online at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
