The Butler Police Department along with Butler Fire Department and Bates County EMS is on scene of a one vehicle accident on Nursery Street near the Bates County Memorial Hospital at this time.

Traffic is delayed in this area please find a alternate route around this area.

The driver suffered minor injuries in this accident.

Severe Weather and Flash Flooding Possible Today

Remain weather aware today as active weather continues with the potential for severe weather and flash flooding.

The strongest storms are expected during the daylight hours, especially over central Missouri along a line of storms during the afternoon.

Large hail to quarter-size, damaging wind gusts, and isolated tornadoes are possible. With the already saturated grounds, flash flooding will be possible in the heaviest activity. Remember, if you encounter flood waters, turn around and don't drown.

Fire at Eldorado Springs School

On 5/20/19 at 2311 hours Eldorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched to the east side of the school at the old gym for a fire on the roof.

Trucks2,3,4,5 responded. With the help of the City Utilities crew and their bucket truck we was able to knock down the fire with a line on the inside and one on the roof. Thank you to Joe and his crew for the help.

Vandalism reported in the city of Osceola

On May 20, 2019, the Osceola Optimist Club reported vandalism to their trailer. The letters "BG" were spray painted on the back of the trailer. 

This is not the first time someone has painted these letters. The Osceola Optimist Park and Osceola Pool have also been vandalized recently.

Obituary - Carl Fredrick Huber III

Carl F. Huber III, 74, Deepwater, Missouri passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at his home in Deepwater. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com. 

A memorial service will be on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11am at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Twin Lakes Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Carl was preceded in death by his grandfather, James McCloud, grandmother, Pruda McCloud, mother, Florence Leasure, granddaughter, Shyla, grandson, Shane Michael and great-granddaughter, Madyson.

Carl is survived by his wife, Nancy, sons, Rick and David (Barb), granddaughters, Denise and Amanda, grandson, RJ, and great-granddaughter, Emma.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.

Charles Wayne Fisher, age 69 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, May 20, 2019 at his sister's home in Adrian. He was born October 17, 1949 to Herbert Eugene and Helen Opal Hamilton Fisher in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Wayne is survived by four brothers, David Fisher of Williamsville, Missouri, Roy Fisher and wife Carolyn, Carl Fisher and wife Linda and Edward Fisher and wife Marsha all of Harrisonville, Missouri; and five sisters, Ina Beasley and husband Orville of Garden City, Missouri, Liz Wimsatt and husband Jim of Mulino, Oregon, Virginia Lacy of Rogers, Arkansas, Rose Sullins of Adrian, Missouri and Mona Evans and husband David of Dix, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard, Dwight and Vernon; and nephews.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Harrisonville

On May 16th, 2019 at approximately 7:28 pm, Harrisonville Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on Orchard Road near Orchard Place of a black Cadillac for a lane violation. 

During the traffic stop a passenger in the vehicle was contacted. Initially, the passenger gave Officers false information as to his identity. The passenger was taken into custody for providing false information to an Officer. Officers were able to positively identify the passenger as James M. Hill, w/m, 01-22-1997 of Harrisonville, MO.

During a search of a bag belonging to James, a large clear bag containing what appeared to be Methamphetamine was located, along with a digital scale and a kitchen measuring cup.

The bag of Methamphetamine, which was weighed, weighed 1.28 lbs and has a street value of $15,00.00 to $20,000.00.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration was contacted and agreed to take the case. James was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Services and is being held pending federal indictment.
