Illegal Netting on the Sac River in Cedar County

ILLEGAL NETTING: Conservation Agent Tyler Green recently received a call from a citizen regarding a person using a throw net to catch and keep crappie on the Sac River in Cedar County. Using nets to catch crappie and other game fish is illegal. 

Agent Green found the illegal netter, who admitted catching 23 crappie with the net. The illegal netter got a citation and the live fish were released back into the river after the pic was taken for evidence.

Vehicle Fire in Barton County

The Barton County Sheriff's office received a call of a vehicle fire at mile marker 81.4 on I-49. 

The Lamar Fire department is out fighting the fire. Please drive carefully in the area.

Two from Lees Summit injured in Bates County Crash

On 5/20/19 around 4:15pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Butler Fire Department, Bates County EMS and the Bates County Sheriff's Office responded to a one vehicle accident on I-49 near mile marker 123.8 around the drainage ditch bridge.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2014 Jeep driven by 51 year old Mary K. Lally-Orlando of Lees Summit, Missouri was northbound on I-49 when she traveled off the left side of the roadway and traveled through a guardrail coming to rest in the median of the highway.

A 19 year old passenger in the vehicle Ann M. Orlando of Lees Summit, Missouri sustained serious injuries in this accident. 

Mary K. Lally-Orlando sustained minor injuries in this accident both females were transported by ambulance to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by Don's Tow of Butler, Missouri.

Thoughts and Prayers

We are saddened to inform you of a death in the Ray-Pec family. 

Joseph Bost, 18, a member of the 2019 graduating class, passed away overnight following a single vehicle accident on Route C. 

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Joseph’s family and friends.

Ray-Pec High School teachers shared the news this morning with students.  
A support team of counselors and personnel will be available to assist and support students and faculty members as they grieve.

Looking for items stolen from Addiction Archery Shop plus Indoor & Outdoor 3D Range off of SE Outer RD in Harrisonville between Sunday May 26th and Tuesday May 28th. They broke a back window out to get in. 

We believe it was 2 people on foot just because it was only what they could carry was stolen.(There was much more that could of been taken)

-Nikon Binoculars
-Hoyt hats
-Alps Outdoors Crossfire realtree camo backpack(In backpack were 3 hunting knives and 1 knife set along with turkey calls and multiple licenses from different states)
-Sony Bluetooth speaker
-Regular size Apple I pad
-Apple I pad mini
-Nikon professional camera with multiple lenses in a pelican hard case
And a bunch of skittles and a bunch of soda If anyone hears of anything please let us know.

Huge Pothole East of Adrian

World’s Largest Pothole or so we think:

This massive hole can be found on County Road NE 3003 a mile south of 18 Highway east of Adrian. 

Use caution when approaching. Official measurements are 104”x76”. The hole is 10”-11” deep. 

Hopefully crews will get out and fix these roads that have been destroyed by the recent rainfall.

Francis Schallert, age 92 of rural Adrian, Missouri died Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born October 4, 1926 to John and Clara Belle Gain Schallert in Portageville, Missouri.

Francis is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eva May Schallert of Adrian, Missouri; a son, John Schallert and wife Gloria of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two daughters, Ann Fly and husband Bud and Carolyn N. Sorrell all of Adrian, Missouri; five grandchildren, Craig Schallert, Todd Schallert and significant other Kalee Stone, Tim Schallert and wife Jerrilee, Christa Stokes and husband Jason, and Jeremy Fly and wife Jennifer; and five great-grandchildren, Nathan,Ty, Jozie, Jorja and Gabriel. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Bernard Schallert; four sisters, Agnes Dachs, Marie Schallert, Clara Schallert and Mary Powell; and a daughter, Mary Jane.
