Obituary - Maxine Y. Johnson

Maxine Y. Johnson, age 77, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 at The Residencies of Pleasanton.

Funeral service will be 5:30 pm June 4, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to service time. Burial at a later date in the Pleasanton Cemetery.

Obituary - Chad Kendal Hallam

Chad Kendal Hallam, 37, Nevada, MO passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. Chad was born March 4, 1982 in Nevada to Michael James and Donna Fay (Shumaker) Hallam.

Chad was raised in Joplin and attended Joplin schools. He resided in Nevada during his early childhood before moving to Joplin. He returned to Nevada in 2012 and has continued to live here since that time. Chad has been employed at Architectural Systems Inc. (ASI) in Granby, MO for the past seven years.

Survivors include one daughter, Audrey Hallam, Nevada; one son, Jeremiah Hallam, Diamond, MO; mother, Donna Shumaker, Diamond, MO; one brother, Cory Hallam and his wife Holly, Nevada; two half-brothers, Michael Hallam, Nevada, and his daughter, Natalie Baldwin, and Shane Hallam and his wife Megan, Nevada, and their son, Hunter; one step-sister, Alisha Pryor and her husband Adam, Nevada, and their daughters, Addison, Alyvia, and Axytn Pryor; one niece, Isabella Hallam, Nevada; and one nephew, Isaac Hallam, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Hallam, and his grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Mark Mitchel officiating.



Update: Montana man found dead in flood water in Henry County

The body of Lane M. Panasuk,57, Butte, Montana,was recovered from the Tebo Arm of Truman Lake around 7:34 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2019.

Panasuk was pronounced dead at 7:34 p.m.,at the scene by Henry County Coroner Dain Sisk.
The body of Mr. Panasuk was released to Henry County Coroner Dain Sisk. An autopsy was to take place on Friday, May 31, 2019.





Obituary - Allan “Bubby” Anthuis Jr.

Surrounded by family and friends, Allan “Bubby” Anthuis Jr., 58, heard “riders up” for his last race to Heaven’s Gate on May 31, 2019. Memorial services will be 6:30 PM Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Mullinax Funeral Home (660-679-0009) in Butler, Missouri. 

Visitation will be prior to services from 5:00 – 6:30 PM at Mullinax Funeral Home. Bubby was born November 22, 1960 to Allan and Joyce in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a premature and very sick baby. Bubby was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and was the state of Missouri’s poster boy for 14 years. He attended Saint Francis Xavier and Christ the King grade schools and graduated from Center High School in 1979. Bubby was an Eagle Scout from Troop 30 and member of the Trailblazers. After high school he joined the National Guard reserves serving until 1983 at the field artillery unit 129th Battalion in Independence, Missouri as a Specialist 4. He followed his father into the trade of carpentry and was a member of local union 61 and he excelled at his trade until his death.

Allan Jr. was preceded in death by his mother Joyce, his maternal grandmother Louise Lamping and paternal grandmother Minnie Anthuis. He is survived by his father, Allan Anthuis, Sr., three daughters: Natalie Jayne (John), Nicole Marie (Jake) and Tiffany Jo (Tyler) and his seven grandchildren: Hadley, Irelynn, Benny, Damian, Kale, Jack and Milo. Allan is also survived by his sister Myrna, brother Joe (Renee’) and sister Nancy (Doug) and his six nieces and nephews: Ryan (Shawna), Katyan (Lucy), Maddie Jo, Mason, Sam and Jacob.

Bubby loved life; he loved to golf, bowl, hunt, fish, and bet on his ponies. He was an absolute joy to be around, he was so funny and always kept us laughing. He will be missed terribly by all of us. He never met a stranger and had so many friends that he loved. He is now wrapped in the arms of our sweet momma and the loving warm light of our Lord.

Obituary - Era Nadine Chapman

Era Nadine Chapman, 76, Drexel, MO, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at her home. A memorial gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Martha’s Bakery in Amoret, MO.

Era was born December 18, 1942 in Drexel, MO, a daughter of Arlow Stockler and Tressie May (Deshazer) Zeller. She married Arle Gene Chapman on August 14, 1986 in Lord’s Park in Harrisonville, MO. Era worked at Truman East Hospital as a CNA. Era was raised in Drexel and had lived in Zion, IL before moving to Harrisonville in 1973. She moved to Carthage, MO 1981 and back to Drexel in 2001.

Era was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Patty Wright and Sandra Miller. She is survived by her husband, Arle, of the home; three daughters, Joyce Stevenson (Chris), San Antonio, TX, Melody Dye, Neosho, MO, and Tressie McCullough (Justin), Amoret, MO; one brother, Joe Zeller, Clinton, MO; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.


Obituary - Jerry Wallace Jennings

Jerry's wishes were to be cremated and remembered with fond memories. There are no public services at this time.

Jerry Wallace Jennings, age 85 of Rich Hill, Missouri died Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Medicalodge of Nevada in Nevada, Missouri. She was born July 26, 1933 to William Wallace and Sadie Berniece Henderson Jennings in Ft. Scott, Kansas.

Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara Jennings of Rich Hill, Missouri; two daughters, Cheryl Jarred and husband Chris of Rich Hill, Missouri and Cherry Vigil and husband Robert of Orange, Texas; one brother, Dick Jennings and wife Jane of Rich Hill, Missouri; one sister, Cora Mae Tillery of Nevada, Missouri; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.


Body found in flood waters in Henry County

On Thursday, May 30th, 2019, shortly before 9:00 p.m., deputies with the Henry County Sheriff's Office, with direct assistance from the Water Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, recovered the body of a deceased male subject from Truman Lake near Tebo Creek, which has been directed impacted by the record high water levels across the area. 

Personal effects were located on the body of the deceased at the time of recovery and as the investigation into the incident continues, it is believed that the subject is a drowning victim and doesn't initially appear suspicious in nature. 

An autopsy will be performed on Friday morning, to officially determine cause of death.
