Olathe Kansas man injured in Cass County Crash

On 6/23/19 around 8:55am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Missouri 7 Highway north of Route TT in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Ford driven by 55 year old Joseph A. Canseco of Olathe, Kansas traveled through water on the roadway and traveled off the roadway overturning and coming to rest on its wheels.

Mr. Canseco sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by Johnson's Tow of Harrisonville.

Driver rescued from high water in Miami County Kansas

During last nights storm Miami County Kansas Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a stranded motorist in submerged water. 

The driver was confused and not sure where he was. Miami County Dispatchers were able to ping the callers cell phone and based on that ping, Sgt. Talley was able to locate the vehicle. 

Captain Kelly and Sgt. Talley were able to help the 88 year old from Arizona out of his vehicle and safely into a patrol car to warm up. He was later transported to a local area hospital as precaution.

Two from Kansas City escape serious injury in Bates County Crash

On 6/23/19 around 12:13am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County responded to a one vehicle accident in the southbound lanes of I-49 near Mile Marker 133 just north of Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2011 Nissan driven by 19 year old Travon L. Dixon of Kansas City, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway, striking a road sign and a ditch.

A passenger in the vehicle 17 year old Tatiana V. Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri sustained minor injuries in this accident and she refused medical treatment.

The vehicle received moderate damages and it was towed from the scene by Douty's Tow of Butler.

Adrian woman arrested in Cass County

Brianne E. Fisher
On 6/22/19 around 7:37pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County arrested 34 year old Brianne E. Fisher of Adrian, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Probation Violation - Felony Warrant out of Bates County for possession of dangerous drugs 2.) Felony Possession of a control substance.

Brianne E. Fisher was booked into the Cass County Jail in Harrisonville and placed on a $500 cash only bond.

Osage Valley Electric Cooperative power outage report 8:45am

Osage Valley Electric Cooperative Crews have worked throughout the night and have made great progress. 

They are currently working on repairs that will restore power to 320 members in an area north of Archie. Thank you everyone for your patience as crews wrap up the last of these repairs.

The NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for our area till 10pm tonight. With this severe threat 1-4 inches of rain is possible. A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect thru 1am Monday.

 Please stay weather aware tonight, use multiple resources to stay informed, and take precautions as needed.


Miami Junior Athletics 1st annual softball tournament




The Bates County Sheriffs Office had a team in the Miami Junior Athletics 1st softball tournament today. The team was made up of members of the Sheriffs Office and their families, members of the Bates County Juvenile Office and the Bates County Children’s Center. 

The tournament was to support the Junior Athletics that will provide sports for youth in the Miami School district.

We had fun and supported a great cause. We didn’t win but took second and we look forward to competing again in the future. The entry fee was paid for by the players. -  Photo Courtesy of the Bates County Sheriff's Office
