Obituary - Stacy Lynn Cooper Humbird

Stacy Lynn Cooper Humbird, 45, of Archie, Missouri died Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. 

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Stacey is survived by her husband Russ and their three children, Ty, Lani and Miles all of the home, Archie, Missouri; her father, Larry Cooper of Adrian, Missouri; and her brother, Lonie Cooper and wife, Kelly of Harrisonville, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley (Combs) Cooper.

Obituary - Cecelia Kathryn Otter

Cecelia K. Otter, 97 of Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the Nevada Regional Medical Center. Cecelia was born on November 20, 1921 in Hays, KS to August and Mary (Halbleib) Moos. 

On August 6, 1946 she was married to Arthur Thomas Otter and he preceded her in death in February in 1979. Cecelia grew up in the Wakeeny and Collier, KS areas and graduated from the Trego County High School. In 1967 she came to Lamar, MO and then to Nevada, MO a short time later. Cecelia worked as a secretary at the Nevada State Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1985. 

She loved gardening, sewing, reading, teaching Catechism, and reading stories to her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society Survivors include five children, Anne Horst and her husband Dean of Amsterdam, MO, Dolores Otter of Wichita, KS, Mark Otter and his wife Donna of Warrensburg, MO, Rose Otter of Nevada, Quentin Otter, Nevada, numerous grandchildren and grandchildren, one sister, Marie Billinger, Wakeeny, KS, and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Richard, sons Jerry Otter, Leon Otter, and James Otter, and a grandson, Chris Otter. 

A Rosary Service will be held at 9:30 am on Monday July 8, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nevada with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00 am. Rev Peter Savidge will officiate. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery, Ft. Butler Parks and Recreation Department forming Co-Ed Adult Softball League

The Butler Parks and Recreation Department is forming a Co-Ed Adult Softball League.

Obituary - Carol T. Nesbitt-Higgs

Carol T. Nesbitt-Higgs, 75, Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the St. Luke's Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by love and family.

She is survived by 10 children, Lee Danforth III, Katy, Texas, Michael Danforth, Galveston, Texas, Cheryl Wills, Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Kevin Danforth, Upland, California, Carol Treccariche, Raytown, Missouri, Allan Danforth, Kansas City, Missouri, Glenn Danforth, Spring, Texas, Kimberly Anderson, Harrisonville, Missouri, Jamie Higgs, San Diego, California, James Higgs Jr, Boston, Massachusetts; 20 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Nesbitt, Putnam, Connecticut, David Mura, Point Blank, Texas; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Mass will be held, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

A Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m. with visitation to follow until service time Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the church.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the City Union Mission.

10 year old boy seriously injured in UTV accident in Barton County

On 7/3/19 around 4:23pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Barton County responded to a UTV Crash around 2 miles south of Lamar on SW 20th Road.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2019 Polaris Ranger XP-900 driven by 10 year old Troy J. Onstott of Lamar, Missouri lost control on a gravel road, the UTV skidded off the right side of the roadway and struck a field entrance, following impact the UTV overturned several times and ejected the driver.

Troy J. Onstott sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was airlifted to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

One injured in accident involving a dump truck in Vernon County

On 7/3/19 around 3:45pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County responded to a two vehicle accident on US 54 Highway around 5 miles west of El Dorado Springs, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2014 Chrysler Town and Country Mini Van driven by 43 year old Traci R. Guinn of Eldorado Springs, Missouri rear ended the 2014 Sterling Dump Truck driven by 55 year old David L. Irwin of Nevada, Missouri.

Traci R. Guinn sustained moderate injuries in this accident and was transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Both vehicles were damaged and towed from the scene by Garwood Wrecker Service of Nevada and Stewards Wrecker of Eldorado Springs.
