Obituary - J.F. "Boots" Steuck

Funeral Arrangements for J.F. "Boots" Steuck age 94 of Rich Hill, Missouri are under direction of Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill.

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 15th, at the Rich Hill Christian Church with burial to follow in Rich Hill's Green Lawn Cemetery. 

The family receives friends between 5-7pm on Wednesday evening at the Christian Church in Rich Hill. 

Memorials to the College of the Ozarks are suggested and can be made in care of Heuser Funeral Home.

Obituary - Carolyn Sue Kenagy

Carolyn Sue Kenagy of Garden City, Missouri was born October 9, 1952 in Clinton, MO the daughter of Delbert and Bonnie (Breeden) Francy. She departed this life Saturday, August 10, 2019 at her home in Garden City at the age of 66 years, 10 months, and 1 day. 

On October 19, 1974, Carolyn was united in marriage to Delbert David Kenagy for 44 years at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Harrisonville, MO.

Carolyn enjoyed babysitting and working at the Dairy Dine in Garden City, Missouri in her teenage years. She worked at Rival Manufacturing where she met her husband Delbert. Following, she became a homemaker where she took care of her four beautiful daughters.

Carolyn was a lifelong area resident of Garden City, Missouri. She loved spending quality time with her daughters and grandkids. She really enjoyed her rose garden and yard decorations. In her spare time, she loved to play bingo and never missed watching her Kansas City Royals play. Carolyn also loved to go to garage sales and to the Ameristar Casino. She loved our family dinners and get togethers, playing cards with the grandkids was a joy. Carolyn enjoyed making her famous pies that everyone loved. Family and friendsmeant everything to her. She always put everyone before herself.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Francy, Leroy Francy, and her sister Saundra Conner.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert D. Kenagy of the home; four daughters, Kristi Wilkerson and wife, Rolanda, Harrisonville, Missouri,Kimberly Turner and husband, Matthew, Harrisonville, Missouri, Stacy Hankins and husband, Jerry, Rich Hill, Missouri, Jennifer Elwell and husband, Bobby, Racket, Missouri; seven grandsons, Brandon, Dalton, Kaden, Manny, Julian, Nicolai, and Ethan, one granddaughter, Kaylee; sister, Wanda Engelhardt and husband Rick,Chilhowee, Missouri,other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Garden City Meals on Wheels.

Parker Hailey “Sassy” Lawrence, age 21 of Butler, Missouri died Friday, August 9, 2019 in Butler. She was born August 7, 1998 to James Douglas and Raquel Rene Scott Lawrence in Kansas City, Missouri.

Parker is survived by her parents, Doug and Raquel Lawrence of Butler, Missouri; one brother, Joshua Christian Lawrence and wife Sarah of Springfield, Missouri; paternal grandmother, Barbara Lawrence of Butler, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Dean and LaVerne Scott of Clinton, Missouri; three uncles, Michael Lawrence and wife Tina of Shawnee, Kansas, Jason Lawrence and wife Kelly of Butler, Missouri and Donovan Scott and wife Emily of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and six cousins, Tyler Lawrence and wife Lauren, Blake Lawrence, Keegan Lawrence, Thane Lawrence, Hazel Scott and Sage Scott. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James “Jim” Lawrence.

Boot Blockers needing volunteers for upcoming boot block

As most of you know, our little community was rocked this weekend with a tragic car accident. On behalf, of the Bates County Blockers I am asking that you please save your pennies for the weekend of the 24th. We will be blocking for all 5 families involved. 

To do this, we would love to have extra help to man corners. This is where we shine, when one of us is hurting, Bates County comes out to help. I am asking for your support on the weekend of August 24th. 

Today and everyday I am thinking of the families and the people that are hurting from the events of the weekend.
