Drexel students earn highest honors

Congratulations to Sara Gammon, Haley Collins, and Questen Poole for earning their American FFA Degree. This is the highest award possible and goes to the top 1% of FFA members. 


They will be recognized at the National FFA Convention on November 2nd in Indianapolis.

Update from the Butler Police Department on double fatality accident just north of Butler




Henry County Sheriff's Office active shooter training





Over the past two weeks, the Sheriff's Office has been working on active shooter training. After 4 hours of classroom participation the deputies completed a practical training exercise at the Leesville School. The training.was conducted by Major Rob Hills who also instructs the A.L.I.C.E. program in our several schools in Henry County.

Our thanks to Leesville School District for use of their facilities and to the Clinton Police Department for use of their training weapons.

Strong to severe storms possible Thursday and Friday

Dry and mild weather is expected today, but that will change as we head into Thursday. Storm chances will increase Thursday, especially late Thursday, with another round of storms possible by late Friday.

We could see strong to severe storms with the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and locally heavy rain both nights. This unsettled weather pattern will continue through the weekend into early next week.


Urich man killed after being ejected from vehicle

On 8/13/19 around 5:15pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies and Peculiar Police Department responded to a one vehicle accident on Route YY at Major Road.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2004 Toyota driven by 37 year old Douglas K. Baker of Urich, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a drive way entrance causing the vehicle to go airborne then strike the ground overturning and ejecting the driver.

Mr. Baker was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and he was transported to Frontier Forensics.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the accident scene by J's Southland Tow.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 43rd Fatality Accident of 2019.

Osage Valley Electric Cooperative currently have an issue at the Creighton Substation that is causing an outage for members in the Creighton, Garden City and Blairstown areas. 

Crews will work to restore power as quickly as possible. Please report outages by calling 660-679-3131 or using the SmartHub app.
