From the desk of Bates County Coroner Greg Mullinax

On Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at approximately 10:08 AM I was dispatched to the KCP&L substation just west of Adrian, Missouri. When I arrived the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and Adrian Police Department were investigating after a deceased individual had been found inside the fenced substation.

The Sheriff, Detectives, Officers and I removed the deceased from the scene and began an investigation to confirm identity. I can now confirm the deceased is Allen Edward Wickham, age 56, with last known address of Raytown, Missouri; although it is believed he has not resided there recently. The cause of death is preliminarily identified as electrocution.

While en route back to the coroner’s office from this scene, I was dispatched to the 300 block of South 4th St., Drexel, Missouri. When I arrived the Drexel Police Department had executed a wellbeing check and found a man deceased in his home. This man is identified as 58 year-old Kelly Lloyd Whitehead of Drexel, with death attributable to natural causes.

Most respectfully,

Greg D. Mullinax
Coroner of Bates County
