A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 AM Monday morning for portions of central Missouri. 

Visibility may reduce to below 1 mile at times, making travel potentially hazardous.

Obituary - Edmond Marion Bartlett

Edmond Bartlett, 89, of Fort Scott, Kansas, passed away on August 31 after a battle with cancer. 

Ed was born on January 14, 1930 to Sheldon and Lucille Bartlett in Pleasanton, Kansas. After graduating from Pleasanton High School in 1948, he served in the Army. He then majored in Journalism at the University of Kansas and graduated in 1954.

After graduation, he worked for Look Magazine in Des Moines, Iowa, where he met and married Ruby Kalentine. They then moved to Minnetonka, Minnesota, where Ed worked 18 years in marketing for Fingerhut Corporation. Ed and Ruby had four children, Steven, Suzanne, Sally, and Thomas.

Ed and his family moved to Jackson, Wyoming in 1977, and lived at the base of Jackson Hole Ski Resort. He loved the outdoors and spent time skiing, hiking, hunting, and fishing. Ed continued working as a freelance marketer for major corporations around the country.

After retiring several times, Ed returned to the area where he grew up and led a very active life in Fort Scott, Kansas. He loved hiking in the countryside of Kansas with his dog Skipper, and he traveled all over the world.

Ed is predeceased by his parents and wife Ruby and is survived by children Steve, Suzanne (Larson), Sally (Phalen), and Tom; by eight grandchildren, Callie Bartlett, Michelle Rosengren, Cole Meyer, Shane Phalen, Ryan Phalen, Henry Bartlett, Lily Bartlett, and Eva Bartlett; and three great grandchildren Danielle Rosengren, Evelyn Rosengren, and Vera Rosengren.

There was cremation. There will be a memorial visitation, Wednesday, September 4, 2019, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the Carriage House, 301 S. Main. 

Memorial are suggested to Integrity Hospice and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main St., Fort Scott, KS. 66701. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guest book at cheneywitt.com.

Nevada woman sentenced to the Missouri Department of Corrections

On 8/27/19 Vanessa Radford 33 years old of Nevada, Missouri plead guilty to a Felony Assault Charge that was filed last May.

A 2 year sentence was imposed on that. She was also on probation for a stealing case that she plead guilty to 3 years ago in Polk County.

She had been on probation in that case until a hearing late last month when a judge in Polk County ordered the execution of the four-year sentence. Radford was transported to Women's Eastern REC/Diag/Corr Center in Vandalia, Missouri to serve her sentence.









Obituary - Sue Collins

Sue Collins, 63, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at her home.

She was born April 6, 1956 in Noel, MO, the daughter of Charlie Collins and Lora Catherine (Puryear) Collins. She was employed with Schreiber Foods until her health declined and forced her to go on disability.

Surviving are one son, R.J. Wilfong and his wife, Lindsay, Osceola, MO; one daughter, Katie Settles and her husband, John, Clinton, MO; eleven grandchildren, Dusty Settles, Micheal Wilfong and his wife Geena, Tyler Wilfong and his wife Brittany, Kaylee Annis, Katlin Ball, Tyler Bland, Brooklyn Wilfong, Kasey Wilfong and Savana Wilfong; two great-grandchildren, Emma Wilfong and Bentley Wilfong; one brother, Charles Collins, Terra Haute, Indiana; and Melissa Hess, Clinton, MO.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., just prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Englewood Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.
