Obituary - Charles Wagner Crawford

Charles Wagner Crawford, known to many simply as Papa, was born September 5, 1937, to Wagner Rush and Winona Grace (Kester) Crawford in Nevada, Missouri. He passed away September 19, 2019, in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Charles was a family man. In his free time, you might find him pushing a stroller, spending time with his grandkids, or great-grandkids, possibly winning a game of checkers, mowing grass or tending to his roses.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Carol Duncan, his eldest son, Dr. Jeffrey Crawford, and two infant grandchildren, Whitney and Nicholas.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce Crawford, his son Todd Crawford (Teddi); his daughter Shelley Kaiser (Wade); his grandchildren, Jenna Crawford, Drew Sells (Marquez Butler), Jordan Budzick (Daniel), and Sydney Sells (Matt Rand); his great grandchildren, Kelsey, Emma and Liam; a sister, Pat McElwain and a brother, Raymond Crawford; along with many other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society.

BCMH Operation-Sock-It-To-Me Campaign

Bates County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteers are collecting socks again, and the community is invited to participate. Last week the Auxiliary began their 3rd annual Operation-Sock-It-To-Me campaign, a community sock collection for local kids in need.

If you would like to donate, please purchase new socks still in the package. Collection boxes are placed in the hospital's front lobby and each of our Family Care Clinics in Adrian, Butler and Rich Hill.

Operation Sock-It-To-Me will be open for donations until October 31, 2019. Socks will be delivered to area schools and given to kids in need ages 5 years to 18 years (grades K-12).

Drop-off locations are Bates County Memorial Hospital, 615 W. Nursery, Butler; Adrian Family Care Clinic, 102 E. Main St., Adrian; High Street Family Care Clinic, 706 S. High St., Butler; Nursery Street Family Care Clinic, 617 W. Nursery St., Butler, and Rich Hill Family Care Clinic, 225 N. 14th St., Butler.

The community’s help is very much appreciated to help make this project a success.

Hume man injured in Vernon County Crash

On 9/22/19 around 9:55am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County responded to a one vehicle accident on Route H around 1 mile east of Richards, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 28 year old Matthew R. Weir of Hume, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a concrete culvert. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its top in a barbwire fence.

Mr. Weir sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by Phillips Towing of Nevada.

Bates County Sheriff's Office looking for subject who fled on foot after chase in rural Adrian

The Bates County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate a male subject that fled on foot after a police chase near Missouri 18 Highway and CR 7001 in rural Adrian between Adrian and Merwin.

The subject is said to be wearing black jeans and a black shirt, He is described as a light skinned black male.

Please check and lock all vehicles in the area and if you see anything suspicious please call the Bates County Sheriff's Office at 660-679-3232.
