Obituary -Nancy Earlene Walker

Nancy Earlene Walker, 61, Richards, MO passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin following a brief illness. Nancy was born October 13, 1957 in Jacksonville, FL to Floyd and Beverly (Pettibon) Davis. In 1986 she met John Walker and they were united in marriage on August 19, 1995.

Nancy grew up in the Vernon County area and graduated from Nevada High School in 1975. Following high school, she worked in the kitchen at the State Hospital in Nevada for a time. Nancy spent many years as a homemaker and enjoyed traveling with John for a period of time doing over the road truck driving. She later became a bus driver for the Nevada R-5 School District during the early to middle 1990’s. Nancy’s also enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, and loved being with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband John of the home; one son, Corey Otter and his wife, Stephanie, Richards; four grandchildren, Haley (Otter) Panczyszyn and her husband Cody, Nevada, C.J. Otter, Nevada, Braxton Otter, Richards, Brady Otter, Richards; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Connie Liles and her husband Kenneth, Richards, MO; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Christopher Earl Otter, Sr.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, MO with Rev. Bryan Keith officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Obituary - Robert “Bob” Eugene McGee

Robert “Bob” Eugene McGee, 87, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Redwood of Raymore in Raymore, MO. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 9 at the Atkinson Funeral Home.

Obituary - Jerry Lee Reedy

Jerry Lee Reedy, 72, Moundville, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a lengthy illness. Jerry was born November 5, 1946 in Nevada to Tom and Frances (Burris) Reedy, Sr.

Jerry attended Walker High School and graduated Class of 1964. He was joined in marriage to Glenda (Hulse) Reedy in 1964 in Nevada Mo and to this union two children were born; Vicki (Reedy) Gastel and her husband, Leonard of Sheldon, David Reedy and his wife, Kim of Moundville; three granddaughters, Michaela (Reedy) Walker and her husband, Ryan of Lamar, Erin Reedy, Nevada, and Lindsey Reedy of Moundville; two great-grandchildren, Axton and Adley Walker of Lamar; Jerry has one brother, Thomas Reedy, Jr. and his wife, Ginger, of Kidder, MO; one sister, Martha Waltrip and her husband, Jim of Nevada, numerous nephews, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Glenda, parents, parents-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

Jerry found great joy in spending time with his family and always got an extra twinkle in his eyes when he talked about or was around his grandkids and great grandkids.

Jerry spent his life as a life long resident of Vernon county and worked in agriculture and retired from the Bronaugh R-7 school district where he worked as a custodian and a bus driver, he always got great joy from being around the kids at school.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Tom Rea officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to Bronaugh R-7 School District c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Luke Bryan Concert canceled tonight in Louisburg Kansas



The Luke Bryan concert that was scheduled for tonight at MC Farms in Louisburg, Kansas has been canceled due to wet weather conditions. A make up date hasn't been announced at this time.

One arrested after fleeing in Henry County

On October 3, 2019 around 4:00 a.m. Henry County Deputy Oaks attempted to stop a vehicle in Windsor. 

The vehicle failed to yield to an emergency vehicle and fled westbound on Hwy 2. The vehicle turned north on NE 1051 and shortly thereafter lost control on a curve and crashed. 

The driver was identified as Brandon Rollett, age 35 of Windsor. Rollett was transported to an area hospital for his injuries sustained in the crash. 

Mr. Rollett faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest by fleeing.
