Obituary - Travis L. Bryson

Travis Lee Bryson age 45, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away on Saturday evening, November 9, 2019. Travis was born January 16, 1974, at Rolla, MO. He was the son of Steve Bryson and Doris (Nivens) Brown. As a young man, Travis was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Salem, MO. Travis attended school in Salem, Missouri where he graduated high school in 1992. He graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Drafting and Design and a Minor in Engineering.

Travis married Kelly Carter on July 29, 2001. To this union three children were born. They lived in Willard, MO, and El Dorado Springs, MO. Travis worked at MODOT, for six years. He was youth leader at the Willard Community Christian Church. They moved to El Dorado Springs in 2006, where he was the youth minister at Park Street Christian Church. In the fall of 2007, Travis began working at the El Dorado Christian School. 

Over the last twelve years, he taught many classes at ECS including Bible, 8th grade math, pre-algebra, Drafting and wood working. Travis also worked maintenance and coached volleyball with his wife, as well as cross country. He currently served as a teacher and Athletic Director of ECS.

His skills as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, and so much more were appreciated by many in the community. He was an avid hunter and loved being outdoors. Travis was an exceptional man who loved his family, community, church, co-workers, students, and God. Travis whole heartedly served the Lord faithfully in the community, and on short-term missions trips to Haiti, Canada, and Mexico. He and his family attend Milford Christian Church in Milford, MO.

Preceding Travis in death were his grandparents, Freddie and Cleone Nivens, John and Beulah Bryson, and two-year-old niece, Lanie Watkins.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Kelly Bryson, of El Dorado Springs and three daughters: Isabelle Rose, Olivia Mae, and Sophia Grace; his step-grandma, Freda Brown; his father, Steve Bryson, of Salem, MO; his mother, Doris Brown, and step-father, Ron Brown of Salem, MO; one sister, Amanda Horton, and her husband, Mike Horton, and their children: Lauren, Noah, Kaylee, and Carter of Brainerd, MN; and many more uncles, aunts, cousins,nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Travis Bryson will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the El Dorado Springs Church of God (Holiness) with Cliff Hazard and Darrell Doss officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Church of God (Holiness). Burial will follow the service at the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are: Brad Nivens, Brandon Watkins, Mike Horton, Rusty Pittsenbarger, Justin LeeMasters, Scott Rice, Chuck Wolfe, Charles Watkins, Clark Wood, and GerradSteuck. Honorary pallbearers are: Albert Stebbins, Tommy Nivens, Gary Brown, Ethan Pittsenbarger, Noah Horton, Trey Pittsenbarger, Carter Horton, and Carter Watkins.


Obituary - Don Ferguson

Funeral services for Don Ferguson of Kansas City, Missouri will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. 

Visitation will be immediately prior to services from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Contributions may be left at the chapel for the Disabled American Veterans in memory of Don. Online condolences may be sent to www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Don Ferguson, age 92 of Kansas City, Missouri died Friday, November 8, 2019 at Brighton Gardens of Prairie Village, Kansas. He was born May 18, 1927 the son of Emory Everard Ferguson and Lucy C. Miller Ferguson. Don served in the United Stares Navy during World War Two. On August 1, 1952 he was united in marriage to Mildred Rose Engelhardt. They were featured on the "Bride and Groom" show in New York City in 1952. He was service manager for Bell and Howell for 39 years before retiring in 1990.

Don is survived by two sons; Ronald Ferguson and wife Debbie of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and Mark Ferguson of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter Debra O'Hearn and husband Brian of Sacramento, California; seven grandchildren Donald E. Ferguson and wife Jenny, Hannah O'Hearn, Megan O'Hearn, Jack O'Hearn, Tyler Robertson, Michael Robertson and Zach Robertson; also two great grand-children Madeline and Natalie; also nephews, nieces and cousins.


School bus accident in Cass County


On 11/11/19 around 7:30am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies and Belton Fire Department responded to a two vehicle accident involving a school bus at Route C and 251st in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2009 International School Bus from the Raymore/Peculiar School District that was driven by 30 year old Kayla R. Ragan of Peculiar, Missouri began to slide on ice and traveled into the path and struck the 2014 Ford Escape driven by 31 year old Rebecca A. McGaughey of Freeman, Missouri.

Rebecca A. McGaughey sustained moderate injuries in this accident and she was transported to Belton Regional Medical Center for treatment.

No one on the bus was reported to be injured.





Drexel man injured in dump truck rollover accident

On 11/11/19 around 8:40am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with the Bates County Sheriff's Office responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Missouri 18 Highway just north of Route AA in rural Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1996 Mack Dump Truck driven by 58 year old Roger L. Fink of Drexel, Missouri was southbound on Missouri 18 Highway when he traveled off the roadway and overturned.

Mr. Fink sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and secured roadside to be towed at a later time.

Obituary - Janet Sue Berry

Janet Sue Berry, 69, Butler, MO, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 in Butler. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. 

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian.

Obituary - Peggy Jane James

Peggy Jane James, 72, Garden City, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at St. Luke's East, Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Peggy is survived by her son, Karl K. Schrock, Garden City, Missouri; 2 grandsons, Kolton and Karter Schrock; a sister, Sheryl Philliber, Sedalia, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at The Dickey Cottage, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
