Missing Gator results in arrest

On November 12th Deputies were dispatched to County Road 15504 in Adrian in reference to a motor vehicle theft. The victim stated that they had parked their 2018 John Deere Gator on the property on November 10th. When they returned to the property on the 12th the Gator was missing.

On November 13th Deputies were notified that the Gator was located at a residence on Main street in Adrian. The reporting party advised the Deputy that a Gator was in the backyard of the residence and it had not been there before.

At this time a search warrant was applied for so Deputies could retrieve the Gator from the residence. While they were waiting for the search warrant to be signed a male subject got into the Gator and left the residence. The Deputy initiated a felony stop on the Gator. The driver of the Gator was advised that the Gator was stolen which the driver stated he was not aware of.

After further investigation the Deputies were able to determine that Jacob Stoneking (DOB 5/9/1992) had stolen the Gator from the victim's property and drove it to the residence on Main street in Adrian.

Due to Stoneking's previous criminal history record he was taken into custody and was charged with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle. He is currently being held at the Bates County Jail and was given a bond of $10,000 cash or surety.

The Bates County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Adrian Police Department for their assistance with this case.
