St. Clair County Sheriff's Office News Release Nov. 4 through 26, 2019

St. Clair County Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made nine arrests and took multiple reports during the week of Nov. 4 through 26, 2019.

Obituary - Monty Lee Moore

Monty Lee Moore, 54, Lawson, MO. passed away November 25, 2019. Visitation will be held 4-7pm, Friday, November 29 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home Lawson Chapel, 214 N. Pennsylvania, Lawson, MO. Funeral service will be 10am, Saturday, November 30 at the Lawson United Christian and Presbyterian Church 305 East 4th Street, Lawson, MO. 

Graveside service 2pm, Saturday at Double Branch Cemetery, Butler, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to Mary and Morgan Moore Education fund c/o Sarah Moore or a charity of choice. Arrangements: Bross & Spidle Lawson Chapel 816-296-0097

High Wind Advisory



11/26/2019 - Bates and Henry County has been placed under a HIGH WIND WARNING from 9:00pm this evening until 9:00am Wednesday (11/27/2019).

Unusually high winds are expected as a front moves through our area this evening into the early morning hours tomorrow. 

Wind speeds in excess of 60 mph are expected with this front. Local isolated thunderstorms are also possible.

Obituary - Kirby Johnson

Kirby Johnson, 79 of Amoret, Missouri passed away November 22, 2019 at his home in Amoret. Cremation, with memorial services scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Amoret Christian Church, Amoret, Missouri. 

A visitation will be held prior to the service, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, also at the church. Inurnment will follow in Virginia Cemetery, Virginia Missouri.

Services under the direction of Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler, (660-679-0009). Memorial contributions are suggested to the USO. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.



Kirby Hugh Johnson was born March 2, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to George Coburn Johnson and Norma Maxine Brooker Johnson Gordon. He graduated from Garden City High School and joined the US Navy.

Kirby retired from the US Navy after a 30 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 1935 in Adrian, Missouri, a proud lifetime member of the NRA, and the American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman, and very involved as an Amoret community member, father figure, and was a friend to many.

Kirby was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine F. Johnson, son Randall Kirby Johnson, and daughter-in-law Mary (Eft) Johnson. He is survived by his sons, Richard A. Johnson (Christy) and David H. Johnson, daughters Donna L. Hartzler, Sharon Johnson, and Lori M. Norris (Jack), sister Linda J. Todd, numerous grandchildren, many, many great-grandchildren, and a large circle of military buddies, sportsmen, friends, and neighbors.

Marlene Blevins age 78, Clinton, Missouri passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com

Funeral service will be on Friday, November 29, 2019 at 2pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri. Interment will follow at Vansant Road Cemetery, Clinton. 

The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Marlene Blevins Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.


Obituary - Roberta "Berta" Lea Baker

Roberta "Berta" Lea Baker, 70, of Urich, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at her home surrounded by love and family.

Berta is survived by a son, Mark Baker and wife Danyelle, Butler, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Gabriel, Katlyn, Nathan and Joshua; two great-grandchildren, Cori and Ty; an "adopted daughter", Dawn Baker, Oak Grove, Missouri; three brothers, Ricky Bryant and wife Mary, Creighton, Missouri, Ronnie Bryant and wife Karen, Harrisonville, Missouri and Randy Bryant, Urich, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice.

Adrian Barnwarming royalty

Last Friday night the Adrian FFA held its annual Barnwarming dance. Congrats to junior Kameran Collier and Trevor Thompson on winning Barnwarming king and queen. It was a great time!
