Clinton Police Department seeking public assistance

The Clinton Police Department is looking for assistance in finding these two subjects.

The subject in the black and white picture is Fred Griffitt and the color picture is Brandon Rollett. 

Both are suspects in incidents in which they did not stop for us during traffic stops. Any help is appreciated.

Archie Elementary Students of the Month

On Tuesday, the elementary students, staff and parents celebrated our December students of the month. The character trait for December was integrity. Obituary - George Edward “Eddie” Rusow, Jr.

George Edward “Eddie” Rusow, Jr., 75, Peculiar, MO, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO. 

Eddie was born June 21, 1944 in Merced, CA, a son of George and Oma Lee (Gillis) Rusow, Sr. He was a 1962 graduate of Adrian High School and had lived in Adrian and Kansas City, MO before moving to Peculiar in 1979. He married Virginia Monteer on April 4, 1964 in Adrian.

After high school, Eddie worked for Bekins Moving Company for several years before going to work for General Motors. He worked at the Fairfax plant, for 35 years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the UAW Local #31. Eddie loved hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with family. Eddie was a beloved husband, father, friend, and neighbor. He was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, James Edward Rusow. He is survived his wife of 55 years, Virginia, of the home; one son, Jeremy Rusow (Nichole), Archie, MO; two daughters, Carla Hawkins (Mark), Archie and Patricia Brewer (John), Harrisonville, MO; one brother, Jerry Rusow, Adrian; one sister, Linda Moss (Shelby), Warsaw, MO; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Obituary - Donna Rose Coke

Donna Rose Coke, 66, Raymore, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Redwood of Raymore in Raymore, MO. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Donna was born October 27, 1953 in Harrisonville, Missouri, a daughter of John B. and Sybil (Wass) Coke. She was a 1971 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Donna received a degree in criminal justice from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO. She then went to law school, receiving her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City Law School. She worked as an attorney at the Missouri Court of Appeals. She went back to school and received her teaching degree and taught high school for a few years. Donna opened her own law practice in Harrisonville for a number of years before her retirement. She was a member of the Missouri Bar Association.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Sybil Coke. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Atkin, Kansas City, MO; her brother, Jay Coke, Cleveland, MO; and two grandchildren, Adelaide Harrison and Eleni Harrison.

Deputies chase vehicle until tire falls off, suspect in custody in Vernon County

A Missouri man is in custody following a pursuit Wednesday when a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop in Nevada. 

According to officials with the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, who has been identified as 29 year-old Kaleb J Wilson, failed to stop for a deputy who was working a traffic related detail for MoDot. 

The vehicle fled from Nevada on East 54 and continued to run as multiple other units from the Sheriff’s Office responded. 

According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, the vehicle left the roadway at one-point driving through a fence and into a field before going back onto a roadway. Deputies deployed spike strips multiple times and was able to stop the vehicle on Mission Road just outside of Nevada. 

“By the time we got him stopped he was missing a tire and starting to have engine problems” said Mosher. Suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia were also located in the vehicle.

Wilson has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting Attest, and two counts of Leaving the scene of an Accident. 

Wilson is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.

Obituary - Lloyd Kasper

Lloyd Kasper age 90 passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia, Missouri. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com. 

Funeral Service will be on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri. 

Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to The Clinton Christian Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Lloyd Kelley Kasper was born on November 10, 1929 in Tipton, Missouri to Edward Franklin (E.F) and Bessie (Kelley) Kasper. Lloyd was a member of the Clinton Christian Church and the Clinton VFW Post 1894. He loved to farm and travel. Lloyd enjoyed hunting and trout fishing in Bennett Springs. He managed Farmer's Elevator for many years.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and brother, Dean Kasper.

Lloyd is survived by his sons, Lloyd Jr. and Kenneth (Vivian) Kasper of rural Windsor, Missouri, sister, Mildred Mullins of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, grandchildren, Tim Bigler and Joshua Bigler and great-grandchildren, Haley, Allison, Emma, Jade and Jessica.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.

Obituary - Clarence P Kamla

Clarence Paul Kamla 97, of Nevada, peacefully entered into rest on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Clarence was born March 29, 1922 in Winona, KS, one of eight children of Tobias and Amelia (Rath) Kamla. Being raised on the family farm, Clarence learned the value of family, hard work and the how to fix things. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the United States Army. He married Dorothy Glasco September 9, 1943 and she preceded him in death on November 18, 1982. Clarence later married Sharon Hardwick on May 25, 1991 in Bird City, KS and the couple moved to Nevada in 1998 from Bird City, KS. In addition to farming Clarence worked for Standard Oil as a bulk oil dealer. He was a very good small engine mechanic and was well known as a “Mr. Fix It” and “Mr. Gadget” person, and on the go even into his later 90’s. He had the ability to invent little things that made his family and his friend’s life a little easier and a lot more interesting. Clarence valued his family, his church and his great neighbors. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Clarence was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Sharon of the home; son, Kent Kamla and wife, Karen of Thornton, CO; step-son, Rick Hardwick and wife, Maria, Garden City, KS; grandson, Richard Kamla and wife, Tatum, Windsor, CO; granddaughter, Emily Kamala, Thornton, CO; step-grandson Drew Hardwick, Lakin, KS; four great-grandchildren, Tierza and Brezlyn (Kamla) and Max, and Cora, (Nelson). Sisters-in-law, Kerin Hatch and husband, Ron and Terri Novacek and husband, Dennis; brother-in-law Kenny Biber; and special friend, Jana Raven; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends. Clarence was also preceded in death by five sisters and 2 brothers.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nevada with Rev. Chris Deines officiating.Military Honors will follow the service at the Lutheran Church.

Stolen Vehicle reported in Butler

This White Dodge Avenger was stolen was White Oak (Conoco) gas station last night in Butler.

The vehicle was taken by a unknown black female who was wearing all pink clothing.

The vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on I-49 from the Butler Exit.
