Important Announcement regarding the funeral for Chuck McCormick
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Please note that there is the possibility – dependent on weather – that the funeral procession of West Peculiar Firefighter Charles "Chuck" McCormick will be passing through Belton tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, 1/11). The procession may include several dozen fire trucks and other vehicles.
For your safety and for the dignity of the procession, there will be a full closure of the westbound lanes of 58 Highway from 291 to I-49. Law enforcement will be blocking intersections along 58 Highway as the funeral procession passes through Belton from Kentucky Rd to northbound I-49. Northbound I-49 will be temporarily stopped to allow the procession to enter I-49 from 58 hwy.
Eastbound lanes of 58 Highway will be open to traffic if you need to be out (travel is not advised at this time due to the winter storm warning). If you wish to pull over to show respect as the procession passes, we ask that you PLEASE pull completely off 58 Highway into a parking lot or on to a side street. Do not stop and park on 58 Highway.
Our estimation is that the closure will begin sometime between 1 and 2 p.m., and may last up to an hour or more, depending on how many agencies participate in the procession.
