Apply now: Missouri 4-H Century Family Award

The Missouri 4-H Century Family Award recognizes families with a long, sustaining involvement in the 4-H program. Missouri 4-H families with a combined total of 100 years or more of membership and/or volunteer service in 4-H are eligible for recognition.

Eligibility
4-H years that are applicable include:

Only direct-line family members (siblings, parents, grandparents) are applicable. Aunts and uncles, cousins, etc. may not be included. Stepparents, stepchildren or adopted children may be included.

Paid staff years (Extension or other) do not qualify.

In some instances, local Extension Homemakers or Farm Bureau members committed significant time and energy to establishing and leading local 4-H clubs. Years of service in those capacities are applicable.

Years of 4-H membership or leadership outside of Missouri may be included.

Years as an enrolled 4-H Clover Kid or Clover Bud may be included.

Nominations
An application form is available to nominate families for the Missouri 4-H Century Family Award. Applications may be submitted at any time.

Award recognition
Recognition for this award takes place at the county level.

Warmer start to the week


Update on Adrian house fire

At approximately 6:00 P.M. the Adrian Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire at 131 West Main Street in Adrian. Crews were on the scene within three minutes and found heavy smoke in the basement and first floor of the structure. The Fire was located and contained to the basement. Butler Fire and Central Cass Fire departments responded and assisted with the fire and also provided a crew to be available for any additional call that may have came in while units were currently tied up. Bates County EMS responded along with Adrian Police and Bates County Sheriff’s Department. The exact cause of Fire was not  determined but believed to be accidental in nature. The Red Cross responded and assisted the family. A huge thank you to all agencies who responded and to our dispatchers for making so many calls and getting us the help we needed.

Belton teen injured in Cass County Crash

On 1/11/20 around 3:10pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on S. Cleveland Avenue at Palo Verde in rural Belton.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1998 Jeep 17 year old Isaac R. Marks of Belton, Missouri slid on ice, traveled off the right side of the roadway striking and embankment and fence before coming to rest in a field.

Mr. Marks sustained minor injuries and he was transported by private vehicle to a Urgent Care Facility in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was left at the scene of the crash and it will be towed later.

Laying a hero to rest


West Peculiar Fire Department Firefighter Chuck McCormick was remembered today as a person who always answered the call to serve - to defend the nation and protect the safety and well-being of the people of Missouri and Georgia.

We will #NeverForget his legacy of heroic and selfless service. #Missouri National Guard







Obituary - Charles E. Pendleton

Charles E. Pendleton age 90 of Garden City, Missouri departed this life Friday, January 10, 2020 at Redwood of Raymore, Raymore, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Masonic services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Interment with Military service will be in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Furnace Fire in Adrian

The Adrian Fire Department along with the Butler Fire Department and the electric company are on scene of a furnace fire in a basement of a address located at 131 W. Main Street around the area of Main Street and Mulberry Street in Adrian at this time.


Everyone is said to be out at this time and there is thick black smoke coming from the area.
