Search Warrant Served In Nevada

On January 14, 2020, Nevada Police executed a search warrant in the 300 block of E. Douglas Street in response to reports of the distribution of illegal narcotics at that location.

Detectives had developed information regarding a known male subject at that location that had reportedly been involved in illegal drug activity.


During the search detectives located and seized suspected methamphetamine and suspected drug paraphernalia. The evidence seized will be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis.

Two residents were taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding. The two subjects were identified as follows:

James D. Nelson, age 44 of Nevada
Christina J. Ellzey, age 40 of Nevada

On January 15, 2020, the following charges were filed against James D. Nelson through the Vernon County Associate Court:

Delivery of a Controlled Substance - Class C Felony

Nelson is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash only bond.

On January 15, 2020, the following charges were filed against Christina J. Ellzey through the Vernon County Associate Court:

Possession of a Controlled Substance - Class D Felony

Ellzey was released on her own recognizance (ROR).

THE SKINNY ON FAT is what we're talking about at the Feb. 18th meeting of the Weight Management Support Group.

Important update: After enthusiastic response in January, we have decided to hold this support group twice a month on the first and third Tuesdays, with afternoon and evening group meetings available (2:00 pm and 6:00 pm). Registered Dietitian Jennifer Lindquist will lead the support group.

Obituary - David Forehand

David Forehand, age 82, Windsor, Missouri passed away, Saturday, January, 11, 2020. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com. Graveside services will be at 2pm on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.

David Edward Forehand was born on September 23, 1937 in Norfolk, Virginia to William and Ninna (Holt) Forehand. He was in the Army from July 9, 1962 until January 19, 1966, he was stationed in Hawaii. David was an over the road trucker. David's passion was music and playing his steel guitar, he played also played in a band. David enjoyed playing music for his girlfriend and family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and loved to talk about life.

David is survived by his girlfriend, Sammie Daugherty, sister, Edna Griffin, sons, Aaron Fowler, Chris Daugherty, and Larry Lindsay, daughter, Tabitha Lindsay, 3 nephews, Buck Jr., Jonny, and Eddie, 3 nieces, Cathy, Dian, and Melissa, 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
