Graveside services for Wanda Lee (Vannatta) Hansen will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, MO. Wanda Lee Hansen, age 87 of Shawnee, KS died Thursday, January 15, 2020 at the Shawnee Gardens Healthcare and Rehab. in Shawnee. She was born April 16, 1932 in Benton County, Missouri to Durward B. Vannatta and Jennie A. White.

Wanda is survived by a brother, John M, Vannatta and wife Eileen of Shawnee, Kansas; three nephews, John M. Vannatta Jr. of Shawnee, Kansas, Jeffrey D. Vannatta of Gardner, Kansas, Jason D. Vannatta of Lenexa, Kansas; and one niece Jennifer I. Fisher and husband J.C. of Shawnee, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Obituary - Linda Lou Dinning

Linda Lou Dinning, 78, Harrisonville, Missouri formerly of Garden City, Missouri departed this life on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.

Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Search Warrant Served In Nevada

On January 14, 2020, Nevada Police executed a search warrant in the 300 block of E. Douglas Street in response to reports of the distribution of illegal narcotics at that location.

Detectives had developed information regarding a known male subject at that location that had reportedly been involved in illegal drug activity.


During the search detectives located and seized suspected methamphetamine and suspected drug paraphernalia. The evidence seized will be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis.

Two residents were taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding. The two subjects were identified as follows:

James D. Nelson, age 44 of Nevada
Christina J. Ellzey, age 40 of Nevada

On January 15, 2020, the following charges were filed against James D. Nelson through the Vernon County Associate Court:

Delivery of a Controlled Substance - Class C Felony

Nelson is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash only bond.

On January 15, 2020, the following charges were filed against Christina J. Ellzey through the Vernon County Associate Court:

Possession of a Controlled Substance - Class D Felony

Ellzey was released on her own recognizance (ROR).
