Obituary - Alan French

Alan French 71 of Kansas City, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City. Cremation with private memorial services to be held at a later date. Alan Glenn French was born November 14, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert and Vera Igo French. He grew up in Kansas City and graduated from East High School in Kansas City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law Eula French. Alan is survived by his children, Josh and Kara French, siblings, Steve French of Sheldon, MO., Paul French and wife Susie of Butler, MO., Nancy Parlova and husband Randy of Tempe, AZ.

Death of Pittsburg Kansas woman under investigation

The deceased female that was located in Opolis Wednesday morning was identified as Brandi S. Moore, 35 of Pittsburg Kansas. Preliminary external examination of the body by the pathologist has indicated that the injuries sustained by Moore are consistent with being struck by a vehicle. A completed autopsy and official cause of death are pending.

The identity of the driver and vehicle has not been determined at this time. The time of death death occurred between 8:00 pm Tuesday January 21st and 6:00 am Wednesday January 22nd. It happened on Walnut Street between 2nd and 3rd Street east of the Opolis City Park. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Obituary - Dana Lawrence

Dana Lawrence, 66 of Butler, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Cremation with private family memorial services. Dana was born November 8, 1953 in Butler, Missouri to Lloyd and JoAnn Smith Fahnestock. She grew up in Butler and graduated from Butler High School. She was united in marriage to Clifford Lawrence in 1971. From this union two children were born. She was a good wife and mother with several talents and enjoyments including, painting, playing the piano, reading, and a love for puzzles.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Deborah Tippie. She is survived by her husband of 48 years Clifford Lawrence, son Patrick Lawrence (Nancy), daughter Jackie Davis (Mike), grandchildren, Joe White, Macaja White, Anna Marie White (Frederick R. Pement), Niandralyn Lawrence, Nicklas Lawrence, and one great-grandson Samuel Pement.

An American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED class will be offered at Bates County Memorial Hospital on February 25, 2020 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Peculiar Police Seeking Public Assistance



The Peculiar Missouri Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying the W/M subject and vehicle in the attached photos. The subject and vehicle are both associated with an ongoing criminal investigation. The vehicle is described as an older teal green/blue minivan, possibly a Honda Odyssey. 

The minivan has damage to the front bumper cover as can be seen on the photo. The subject is a white male, slightly balding on the top back of his head, he is wearing glasses that are missing the side ear piece on the left side.
