From the desk of Bates County Coroner Greg D. Mullinax

I want to thank Sheriff Anderson for assembling the group today to discuss preparedness in our County. While my office is certainly not the first defense, and hopefully isn’t needed to play a role, please know that I have spent the day double checking resources I may need.

The County has an emergency operations manual which involves my office. I’ve reviewed all procedures and will continue to communicate with the healthcare facilities in Bates County should a death most unfortunately occur.

Anyone with questions at any time is welcome to contact me directly.

Bates County Coroner

Bates County Sheriffs Office releases statement on Coronavirus

We have been asked by several citizens about our planned response to the Covid-19 Coronavirus. We are working with our stake holders in the community to include the hospital, health center, law enforcement agencies, fire departments and emergency management to educate and prepare a response should the need arise for our citizens. I want to remind our citizens that there has only been two confirmed cases in Missouri since the outbreak in the United States.

The Sheriff's Office has participated in weekly calls with the Governor's Office and health officials to keep informed and to be prepared. At this time we don't expect to much to change in procedures at the Sheriff's Office. If you call for service you may be asked a few additional questions prior to the arrival of any emergency services. Any direct contact from outside personnel and inmates will be postponed for at least 30 days.

What can you do to help protect yourself in this incident and future incidents like this.
First and foremost DON"T Panic!!!!
Everyone should have hand sanitizer
Practice proper hand hygiene by washing your hands after coughing, sneezing or physically interacting with others. Washing our hands for 20 seconds is like singing the happy birthday song twice
Avoid touching your face. Your most likely to contract any virus through your eyes, nose and mouth.
Cover your mouth and nose if you sneeze or cough, trying to use your elbow if possible.
Use disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer when you can.
If you are sick please stay home.

I want to assure you that your public officials are working with each other to ensure that we can serve you and your needs.

Chad Anderson
Bates County Sheriff
