Tornado Warning in Barton County

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a * Tornado Warning for... Northeastern Cherokee County in southeastern Kansas... Southern Barton County in southwestern Missouri... Jasper County in southwestern Missouri... * Until 630 PM CDT. * 

At 557 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 7 miles east of Weir, or 10 miles south of Pittsburg, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. 

* Locations impacted include... Northern Joplin... Carthage... Webb City... Carl Junction... Oronogo... Carterville... Jasper... Golden City... Airport Drive... Alba... Purcell... Nashville... Obituary - Glen Robert Clark Jr.

Glen Robert Clark Jr. of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at the Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville.

He is survived by three daughters,three daughters, Sherry (Todd) Proch, Harrisonville, Missouri, Kim (Sterling) Haynes, Branson, Missouri, Glenda (Brett) Barber, Harrisonville, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, Blake (Kelcie) Barber, Justin Meyer, Ashley (Storm) Coakley, Alishia (Logan) Woodward; Rachel (Brett) Beckham, Spencer Proch, Asa Meyer and Claire Barber; 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Noel Gene(Yvonne) Clark, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

A private family graveside will be held at the Clearfork Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri with Military Honors.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonville Senior Citizen's Center.

Search Warrant Served In Nevada

On April 27, 2020, Nevada Police executed a search warrant in the 600 block of N. Washington Street in response to reports of the distribution of illegal narcotics at that location.

Detectives had developed information regarding a known female subject at that location that had reportedly been involved in illegal drug activity.

During the search detectives located and seized suspected methamphetamine, ecstasy, heroin and fentanyl. The evidence seized has been sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis.

The known female subject was taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding. The subject has been identified as follows:

Silissa M. Swink, age 37 of Nevada

On April 28, 2020, the following charges were filed against Silissa M. Swink through the Vernon County Associate Court:

Four (4) Counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance - Class D Felony

Swink is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 cash-only bond.
