BCMH Healthcare Heroes: Housekeeping Department
Our housekeepers are front-line workers who perform tasks every day that are critical to the health and safety of every patient and employee. It's National Environmental Services week (September 13-19), and we're shining the spotlight on our housekeeping team. 

This year, their tasks include frequent deep cleaning wearing full personal protective equipment. Help us say thank you to these health care workers.

Osceola man injured in St. Clair County motorcycle accident

On 9/12/20 around 9:20pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County along with St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle motorcycle accident on Route B around 6 miles west of Osceola.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2003 Honda Motorcycle driven by 64 year old Glenn F. Tyson of Osceola, Missouri swerved to avoid a animal in the roadway, the bike ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert before overturning and ejecting Mr. Tyson.

Glenn F. Tyson sustained moderate injuries and he was transported by ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri for treatment.

Update: Kansas City truck driver injured in Bates County rollover accident


On 9/14/20 around 12:18pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies, Butler Fire Department and Bates County EMS responded to a semi truck rollover accident in the northbound lanes of I-49 at mile marker 127.2 south of Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2004 Sterling Dump truck driven by 50 year old Jeffrey D. Wolfe of Kansas City, Missouri struck the guardrail on the east side of the roadway, the truck traveled across both lanes and overturned into the median.

Mr. Wolfe sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by J's Southland Tow.

Obituary - John Myron West

John Myron West, 89, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at his home in Nevada. John was born June 15, 1931 in Bellwood, NE to Harry L. and Anna W. (Ladwig) West. He married Estella McClellan in 1958 and to this union one daughter, Barbara, was born. Estella preceded him in death in 1984. John later married Pearl A. Kegerries in 1988 and she passed away in 2013.

John lived his early years in Bellwood and attended Bellwood Public School for all 12 years. He then joined the United States Air Force in December of 1951, serving until December of 1955 at which time he was honorably discharged having obtained the rank of Staff Sargent. Following his years in the service he went to Nebraska College of Barbering in Omaha. After completing his training, he worked as a barber in Omaha, Gordon, and Stuart, NE for 22 years. At that time, he moved to Stockton, MO and then to Nevada where he was employed by 3M for an additional 22 years. John was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada, and the Nevada American Legion.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Davidson (Bill), Apopka, FL; stepdaughters, Sharon Creaton, Bronaugh, MO, Cathy Brunk, Ft. Worth, TX, Brenda Hughes, Thayer, KS, Debbie Allen (Randy), Nevada, MO, Sandy McGatha (David), El Dorado Springs, MO; grandson, Don Smith, Pittsburg, Kansas; granddaughter, Estella Harrell, Bronaugh; and numerous step-grandchildren. In addition to both of his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Doris West, Lois Backman, Florence Kamcenske, Thelma Hascall; two brothers, James West, and Harry West, Jr.; a stepdaughter, Patty Strong; and a stepson, Robert Kegerries.

Funeral services be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Bill Platt officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to the First Christian Church c/o Ferry Funeral Home.


Osceola man arrested in Bates County

Randy D. Owens
On 9/10/20 around 9:42pm The Bates County Sheriff's Office arrested 46 year old Randy D. Owens of Osceola, Missouri.

Mr. Owens was arrested for 1.) Domestic Assault-2nd Degree - Prior Offender.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently being held on a $10,000 cash/surety bond.

The City of Butler is accepting applications for a full –time position as an Administrative Assistant. Starting probationary wage is $11.00/hr. with a pay adjustment after successful completion of a 90 day probationary period. Employer paid medical, dental, vision and life insurance provided. 

Position is covered by LAGERS retirement system. Successful candidates should have experience in clerical work, data processing, accounting, cash handing, answering phones and providing excellent customer service. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Having background in accounting or business would be a preference.
