Racer Auction in Harrisonville




Two vehicle accident on I-49 south of Butler

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County EMS, Rich Hill Fire Department and Bates County Sheriff's Deputies on scene of a two vehicle accident in the southbound lanes of I-49 near mile marker 124 south of Butler at this time.

The accident is said to be between a motorcycle and car with one person being reported injured at this time. Please use caution if you must travel in this area and move over for emergency vehicles.

The community of Hume wishes to extend their sympathy to the family of Charles Key who passed a way on September 3. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rhonda Headley, Brad Scrogham and the rest of the family on their loss.

The community of Hume also wishes to extend the sympathy to the family of Sonny Wehar. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Alexis Holland celebrated her 10th birthday on Sunday afternoon in the Hume City Park. A host of family and friends enjoyed decorating cupcakes and having lots of fun. Happy Birthday, Alexis!

Hume United Methodist Church News: This past Wednesday we started our little devotional on face book for our Kid’s Klub Kiddos. We sure do miss being able to do this in person and look forward to the day we will start back up.

The Hume United Methodist Church Annual Lord’s Acre Day BBQ and Auction is planned for the Saturday, November 7. It is always the 1st Saturday in November.

The Hume High School Volleyball has been busy playing games along with the boys that our on the Rich Hill Foot Ball Team. It is nice that our boys are able to coop with Rich Hill. The Hume Junior High Basketball will get under this week with a game at Miami on Thursday evening, September 24th.

Obituary - Jerry Allen Hines

Funeral services for Jerry Hines will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Salem Cemetery, Foster, Missouri. Contributions to Salem Cemetery, Foster. Jerry Allen Hines, age 74 of Foster, Missouri died Sunday, September 20, 2020 at his home in Foster. He was born July 26, 1946 to Francis Eugene and Frances Edna Briscoe Hines in Foster.

Jerry is survived by his brother, Wayne Hines of Butler, Missouri; one sister, Lena Lowe and husband Bob of Prescott, Kansas; significant other, Linda Wadel of Rich Hill, Missouri; Linda’s son, Kelly Wadel and fiance’ Katherine; nephews, nieces and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant triplets; one brother, David Hines; and one sister, Claudine.

Henry County Health Center confirms 6 new positive cases of COVID-19


The Henry County Health Center (HCHC) has received confirmation of six more positive cases of COVID-19. One who resides in the town of Windsor, and five who reside in the town of Clinton. All close contacts to confirmed cases. This brings the total number of confirmed positive cases in Henry County to 172.

All contact tracing has commenced and all parties that have had close contact are being notified. HCHC continues to encourage residents to practice social distancing, washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or more, and to remain home if you are sick.

The CDC continues to recommend that individuals to wear a face covering when you are in public, and are unable to social distance, to assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19
