Obituary - Charles Clinton Austin

Charles Clinton Austin, 87, Nevada, MO passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Medicalodges in Nevada. Charles was born June 18, 1933 in Tiffin, MO to Tommy C. and Hattie E. (Horning) Austin. He married Evelyn Goodpaster on April 11, 1952 in Nevada and she preceded him in death on March 13, 2013.

Charles was raised in Vernon County. He served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the service he lived in South Dakota for a number of years while working in a slaughterhouse. Charles returned to Nevada in the early 1960’s where he ran a Star Mail route for many years in addition to farming and raising cattle.

Charles is survived by two sons, Gary Austin, Nevada, MO, and Barry Austin (Penny), Nevada, MO; four grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Green, Nevada, MO; two brothers, Henry Austin, Nevada, and Dale Austin, Ft. Scott, KS; and a special friend, Blanche Williams, Nevada. In addition to his wife Evelyn, he is preceded in death by one brother, Lee Austin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Kevin Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Walker, MO. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested in his memory to Mt. Vernon Cemetery c/o Ferry Funeral Home
