This afternoon, deputies attempted to stop a black in color Ford Bronco around the intersection of I-49 and 52 East. The pursuit continued south to rich hill then to 7 bridges road and north. The pursuit took several gravel roads throughout the south east sector of Butler. As the pursuit returned to 52 East on county road 775 the driver observed patrol cars setting up spike strips and exited the road into a bean field.
The pursuit continued off road through the bean field and into a grazing field with cattle. The driver attempted to cross a dry creek bed where he enabled his vehicle.
The driver and passenger were taken into custody. The driver, identified as Brian Vice, had multiple probation violation warrants from three different counties. He also has outstanding warrant from the US Marshal’s Office. That federal warrant stemmed from a case worked jointly by Bates County and the Secret Service approximately 4 years ago.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The Sheriffs Office estimates the property damage at approximately $5000.
“We are fortunate to have a great relationship with our law enforcement partners like the Highway Patrol, it’s also great that we have deputies that are willing to be called out from home to respond to incidents like this so we can flood the area to take these career criminals in custody.” Says Sheriff Anderson
