Obituary - Phyllis Lorraine (Halverson) Green

Phyllis Lorraine Halverson Green, age 77, Mound City, Kansas passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020. She was born on March 22, 1943 in Marshalltown, Iowa the daughter of Howard and Iva Kiser Halverson. She was united in marriage to Robert Green on February 7, 1968 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Together they ran a cleaning business and meat locker. She later worked as a book keeper and retired from the Disney Company.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mound City, Kansas Branch, Eastern Star and the Red Hat Club. She was not one to sit at home. She enjoyed shopping, riding motorcycles, traveling, being with her family, playing cards, and researching genealogy. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Verneal Baker, brother, Marvin Doran, five grandchildren, Trisha Purdy, Brylee Green, Jonathon Barber, Christopher and Charlyssa Good and a daughter in law, Susan Good. 

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Robert, seven children, Kim Barber, Chris Felix (John), Troy Good, Michael Green, Tate Green, Robert Good, and William Good (Kim), grandchildren, Mathew and Sara Barber, Lindsey and Trevor Sirdoreus, Zachariah Liskowiak, Leslie and Matt Langford, Joel, Caleb, Juidith and Ashely Green, Moriah Manecke, Kelsey Poole, Joe and Steven Potter and Arron Good, and twenty two great grandchildren.

A gathering to celebrate Phyllis's life will be held at later date. Contributions are suggest to the American Cancer Society or a Covid 19 Relief Fund. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.

Obituary - Patricia “Ann” Brown,

Patricia “Ann” Brown, daughter of the late William and Bernice Flanery, was born on November 7, 1937 in Freeman, Missouri. Ann joined our heavenly Father peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on the evening of November 26, 2020.Ann had a lively childhood growing up on a farm in Harrisonville, Missouri with her six siblings that remained her best friends throughout her lifetime. 

She is survived by her sisters, Freda Cummings and Vera “Sue” Pippen, and her brother, John Flanery. She has joined her sister Beverly Baker, and her brothers Larry and Derrel Flanery in heaven.At the young age of 17, Ann met her husband and soul mate, Robert “Bob” Brown, and they were blessed with 66 years of true love together. Not too long after marrying on April 20, 1956, Ann and Bob bought their first house in Grandview, Missouri and started their family.Ann is survived by Bob and her two children, Terry Brown, and Sharon Falter who adored her.

One of Ann’s favorite roles in life was being a grandmother, and she is survived by her seven grandchildren. Sharon’s girls: Carmen Bradford (Husband David), Kayla Lascano (Husband Jared), and Rebecca Falter; and Terry’s children, Caiti, Cara, Molly, and Jacob Brown, as well as her great granddaughters, Aurora (Carmen), and Kensington and Avaleigh (Kayla).

Ann’s greatest passion was her love of flowers, especially her day lilies. She grew the most beautiful flower beds, and her passion and love for this will live on across the country each spring as lilies and irises that were handpicked and dug from her garden bloom in the gardens of all her family and friends.

Ann’s hobbies included collecting rocks from all over the country, sewing, crocheting, reading, cooking and baking, being the best living room Wheel of Fortune contestant, and collecting her “pretties” from all kinds of thrift shops and garage sales through the years.

Ann retired with her husband in Archie, Missouri in 2003, fulfilling their dream of building a home on a piece of property in the country, and spent her blissful days enjoying her many flower beds.

Ann found the Lord at the age of 26 and was saved. She spent her life a devout servant, and was a member of the Belvidere Heights Baptist Church family. She was a pure example to all she crossed paths with of what a true Christian should represent. Her love for her family and our Lord rang loud and clear. Her laughter, hugs, wisdom and advice, and heartfelt gospel will remain in the hearts of all she left behind for generations to come as we continue to share stories and memories of the most precious woman and soul. She not only made our lives and the world a better place, she truly blessed it, and she will be immensely missed.

A celebration of life for Ann will be held in the spring of 2021 due to COVID 19.

Obituary - Phyllis M. McGhee

Phyllis M. McGhee, 90, of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Friday, November 27, 2020 at her home in Harrisonville. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. The family will receive friends 10:00-11:00am Friday at the funeral home.

Phyllis was born July 12, 1930 in Pembine, Wisconsin, a daughter of John Maurice and Lillian (Mickelson) Leach. She grew up in the Kansas City area and was a 1948 graduate of Raytown High School. Phyllis was united in marriage to Herbert McGhee on July 21, 1951, and they lived in Raytown, MO before moving to Harrisonville in 1963.

Phyllis worked at Western Electric/AT&T in Lee’s Summit, MO as an inspector-tester for 22 years before her retirement in 1985. She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Harrisonville and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary at Cass Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed taking cruises and traveling, having visited Peru, Germany, New Zealand, Italy, Greece, Australia and Israel. Phyllis was instrumental in incorporating the Walnut Grove Rural School #66 into the Harrisonville School District, allowing children living in that area to attend Harrisonville schools.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, in 1988. She is survived by three sons, Steve McGhee (Kathy), of Riverside, CA, Mark McGhee, of Mack’s Creek, MO, and Ron McGhee (Phyllis), of Harrisonville; one daughter, Melody McGhee (Don), of Drexel, MO; one brother, Gerald Leach, of Merritt Island, FL; one sister, Margaret Marshall, of Chillicothe, MO; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Henry County Health Center has received notification of six more positive cases of COVID-19. (Windsor-3, Deepwater 1, Clinton 1, and Chilhowee 1) This brings the total number of positive cases in the county to 1,231.

Obituary - Janet Kay Payne

Janet Kay Payne, 68, Nevada, MO passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Janet was born April 25, 1952 in Moberly, MO to Lester and Leona (Buhler) Thomas. She was united in marriage to Cecil Payne on November 15, 1974 and he survives of the home.

Janet was born in Moberly and graduated from High School in Pomona, KS with the Class of 1970. She worked throughout her life as a CNA and as an CMA (certified medication aide), mostly in Ottawa, KS. Following her retirement, she moved to Nevada in 2007. Janet enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Cecil, she is survived by one son, Scott Payne (Loretta), Ottawa, KS; and one daughter, Debra Franklin (Rusty), Nevada; five grandchildren, Kyle Payne, Nevada, McKayla (Zack) Hastings, Lawrence, KS, Harley Jacobs, Ottawa, KS, Cathy Franklin, Nevada, Alexis Franklin, Nevada; one brother, Robert Thomas (Deborah), Butler, MO; one sister, Marylee Hayworth, AZ; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A private committal will be in the National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS. No services planned.
