Foster man arrested in Bates County

On 11/30/20 around 11:16pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 34 year old William E. Swarens of Foster, Missouri.

Mr. Swarens was arrested for 1.) Felony possession of a controlled substance 2.)Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia 3.) Driving while suspended 4.) Lane violation.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and later released.

Echo Michelle Lloyd (aka Echo White Lloyd) has been missing from Benton County Missouri since Sunday, May 10th, 2020. Her vehicle and purse were still at her home, but she was nowhere to be found.

Obituary - Jason Fleming

Jason Fleming, 44, of Pleasant Hill, departed this life, Thursday, December 3, 2020, at the Research Medical Center.

Arrangements are pending under the care of Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Updated Obituary - Frieda Jean Leer

Frieda Jean Leer, 90, Nevada, MO passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, MO. Frieda was born September 28, 1930 in Altoona, IA to Erwin and Kathrine (Tompkins) Homrighous.

Frieda was born in Iowa and came to Nevada with her family at a young age where she graduated from Nevada High School. She worked at Nellie Don in Nevada for a number of years, then went on to work at Nevada State Hospital for 22 ½ years retiring in 1992. Her biggest joy in life was her family and grandchildren, and her annual trips to Reno, NV.

Survivors include six children, Larry Leer (Linda), Lamar, Rick Morris, Kansas, Alfred Leer, Nevada, Diane Dighero (Terry), Nevada, Linda Reeves (Zane), Pam Kelley (Scott), Lamar; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Palmer, Fort Collins, CO, Dorothy Campbell, Pittsburg, KS, Peggy Owen, Central Point, OR; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Ronald Leer, and Patrick Leer; one grandson, Matthew Leer; one great-granddaughter, Sydney Mendez; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Leer; two brothers, Harry Homrighous, and Billy Homrighous; one sister, Kathleen Pierce.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Memorials are suggested in her memory to Vernon County Cancer Relief c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

***At this time there is no longer a statewide limitation on the number of people attending funerals or visitations, however those in attendance will be asked to maintain social distancing, and that people are welcome to and, indeed, are encouraged to wear face mask to protect themselves and others
