Breaking News: Shooting in Rockville



Bates County Sheriffs Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and St Clair County Sheriffs Office is on the scene of a shooting in Rockville. The initial call was of a domestic disturbance involving a gun that had turned into a possible hostage situation. 

While enroute to the scene deputies were advised that there were approximately 10 shots fired from a male subject at a female. On arrival to the scene two subjects were taken into custody and the female victim had left the scene. 

Law Enforcement will remain in the area to process the scene. There were no injuries in this case. 

Additional information will be released when available. There is no additional threat to the community at this time.

Butler Bear Wrestling Invitational set for this Saturday

Butler Bear Wrestling Invitational is this Saturday, January 9. Due to a large amount of teams and to allow for a third mat, we will limit access. Each participant will be allowed two guests. 

If you know you are not on that list, or have any question about if you are, please contact the school before trying to get access on Saturday. 

This tournament will be broadcasted by PrepCast and our Hudl Focus camera on YouTube. Senior night will be January 12.


Deceased female in rural Bates County

Shortly after noon yesterday, I was called to a residence in rural South Eastern Bates County, on report of a deceased person in a residence. 

The decedent is identified as Alexia Anthony, age 40. The cause of death is under investigation but foul play is not suspected. The death is not Covid related. 

The assistance of the Bates County Sheriff's Office and Rich Hill first responders is much appreciated in both responses.

Deceased person in Amoret

Yesterday, January 7, 2021, I was called shortly after 8am to a residence in Amoret on report of a deceased person in a residence.

The decedent is identified as Nathan Turner, Sr., age 40, with natural causes involved. The death is not Covid related.

Shots fired in Lamar

On 01/08/21, shortly after 02:00 am, Lamar Police Officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Mill to a disturbance in which a gunshot had been fired. 

Officers secured the scene. This incident is limited to one location involving a domestic relationship. 

There appears to be no on-going danger to the community. There were no serious injuries involved with this incident. The investigation is still ongoing.
