Obituary - Michael R. Clark

Michael R. Clark, age 60, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 in Kansas City, Missouri.


At this time, services for Mike are pending. 

Mike was born in Lancaster, Nebraska to William and Alice (Dority) Clark on March 20, 1960. After graduating high school, Mike served for over two years in the US Navy. Upon his discharge from service, Mike continued his education before making a career as a truck driver. 

For over forty years, Mike showed his incredible work ethic as a self-employed long haul truck driver. In the late fall of 1982, Mike was joined in marriage with his wife, Sonja (Rice) on November 13th. 

He was a devoted husband to his loving bride and together they were blessed with two children, Samantha and Adam. His wife and children were always his pride and joy. In life Mike was an avid Kansas City sports fan and sports memorabilia collector. He was a man of great taste who loved Kansas City barbeque and classic rock and roll. Mike will be best remembered as a faithful husband, protective father, adoring grandfather, a true friend to many, and always with a huge smile on his face.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alice Clark; and two brothers, Leroy Negley and Shane Mason.

He leaves behind his loving wife of over thirty-eight years, Sonja L. Clark; daughter, Samantha Clark (Liz Clark); son, Adam Clark; brother, Matt Mason (Marla Mason); and one grandson, Beckham.

Obituary - Karen McMichael Stewart

Karen Stewart of Dyersburg, Tennessee formerly of Kansas City, Missouri was born March 5, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of William and Kathryn (Jakobe) McMichael. She departed this life on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union City, Tennessee at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 4 days.

She was a homemaker.

Karen is survived by two daughters, Terri Cloinger (Jeff), Mary Stewart, both of Dyersburg; two sons, Gary Stewart of Dyersburg, Joseph Stewart, Jr. of Atoka; two sisters, Kay Hess (Larry) of Adrian, MO, Carolyn Biritz (Jerry) of Kansas City, MO; eleven grandchildren, Elizabeth Helms, Steven Nusbaum, Erik Hayes, Christopher Hayes, Gregory Horton, Brittani Horton, Courtney Nelson, Caitlin Cloinger, Gary Lee Stewart, Brittany Slavick, Crystal Slavick; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Korbyn Stewart, Jennalee Hayes, Kaylee Hayes, Braxton Helms, Bentley Helms, Ava Stewart, Alexis Stewart, Jaxxon Hayes, Kade Hayes, Kyle Hayes, Gregory Horton, III, Grace Horton, Alana Moore, Noah Beasley and Ryder Nuttall.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brother, William A. McMichael Jr. of Lee Summit, MO.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the funeral home.


Obituary - William "Herb" Parker

William "Herb" Parker, 92, of Independence, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Villages of Jackson Creek Memory Care, Independence.

He is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Shumate, Independence, Missouri; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Grant Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and may be left at the funeral home.

Henry County Health Center confirms 4 new positive cases of COVID-19

The Henry County Health Center (HCHC) has received confirmation of 4 more positive cases of COVID-19. Clinton-3, and Montrose-1. This brings the total number of confirmed positive cases in Henry County to 1703.

All contact tracing has commenced and all parties that have had close contact are being notified. HCHC continues to encourage residents to practice social distancing, washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or more, and to remain home if you are sick. 

The CDC continues to recommend that individuals to wear a face covering when you are in public, and are unable to social distance, to assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Obituary - Anna Marie Danley Cox

Anna Marie Danley Cox, age 94, Blue Mound, Kansas passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021. She was born in Linn County, Kansas on May 11, 1926 the daughter of Fred Lee and Ida E. Merriman DeMott. She was united in marriage to Ray Danley on April 10, 1944. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2001. 

She later married Maurice Cox on May 10, 2006. He preceded her on July 2, 2015. In early married years, Ann wall papered and painted. She later worked at Sugar Valley Nursing Home and then for Dr. Bill Justus. Ann loved her family. 

She was a member of the Blue Mound Federated Church. Also preceding her was a brother, Herbert DeMott, and two sisters, Mary DeMott and Ruth Ann Whitcomb. Ann is survived by a son, Fred Danley(Virginia), two daughters, Linda Pinneo(Henry), and Kathy Shaughnessy(Bill), six grandchildren, Mary Jane, Susan, Trina, Jamie, JoLyn, and Niki, several great and great great children.

Graveside funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kansas. Individual respects and guest registry can be from 9 am to 5 pm Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City Chapel.
